Simple Outfits for a Win!

Hello friends!

Happy Memorial Day weekend! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

I thought I would share a couple simple outfits that are classy and have some personality! You know outfits with personality are one of my favorite ways to dress 🙂 Both outfits showcase white shirts, just because I think white is a great color to wear in the heat of summer.

The first two outfits show the same peasant embroidered shirt. One day I wore it with raw edge ankle crop jeans and a camo jacket (cause it was quite cold) and another day I wore it with high waisted wide leg crop jeans (same wedges each time) and I can’t decide which outfit I like more! I really like the shirt with camo as it’s such a juxtaposition of styles which really speaks to me! I love the opposite idea….a lovely peasant embroidered shirt, so genteel and delicate/dainty with the tough look of camo. It’s like saying “you really don’t know me at all, I’m a lady AND don’t underestimate me! LOL it’s such fun!

Then the next two outfits, I’m wearing a basic button up white shirt (with a little bit of texture) with shorts AND some cropped striped pants. Either are fun and provide a little bit different personality to fit different plans for your day. I have worn short to work before but I always try to pair it with something really fancy to dress them up. Typically shorts would be a weekend outfit idea or for a summer holiday. The cropped striped pants can also be a weekend outfit, summer holiday or work outfit.

I love the idea of an interesting white top/shirt (all these items are super affordable and on sale at JCPenney) to dress anything up or make an outfit simple AND fun!

Shakespeare Confusion

Hey friends!

I hope you’ve all had a great weekend! We’ve actually had a lot of sunshine the last few days and it’s been wonderful! I don’t miss the ❄️

Hubs and I had a fun, yet super confusing experience at the theatre last night. We attended “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” which follows Hamlet through these two minor characters.

I have never ever ever been so confused in a play before. These two characters start out the play by themselves but they are confused themselves and keep finding themselves going in and out the story and characters of Hamlet.

I thought to myself, “I have no idea what’s going on…why is this so hard, I want to leave, I can’t stay awake, I’m gonna die, I can’t do this” but the tickets were snagged by good friends so I didn’t want to offend them.

I also knew there was an intermission so I kept thinking, “it’s not even halfway done, the intermission hasn’t even started, oh my gosh I can’t sit through this”!

When the intermission started I felt relieved but still frustrated because I couldn’t figure out what was going on and I typically understand Shakespeare.

As our friends and I started talking, I realized “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern (really) Are Dead”. I said, what if they’re dead?? They can’t remember their names, don’t know where they were going or where they came from, there was a really weird coin toss which always resulted in the coin being “heads” up-impossible in real life, and they couldn’t follow the other characters as they left the scene they were in. It was weird but all of a freakin sudden made sense that they actually were dead but didn’t know it.

The last half of the play was more pleasant cause I knew they were dead and details made sense.

But seriously I don’t know if I’ve ever used that much brain power that late at night and took so long to understand something. Holy crap that was hard and maybe it prevented early Alzheimer’s but I never want to do that again…. a whole play focused on one persons idea of death.

Then again I have been binge watching Criminal Minds on Netflix and “Cold” podcast. Maybe an existential tragicomedy is just what my brain needed??

Check it out and see what you 🤔

Dressing with Plaid

Hello friends!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend (now that the last minutes are ticking away LOL)

I visited with two of my grandkids that live farther away so it was a great weekend getaway so to speak ❤️

I want to share my love for these green/purple/black plaid pants I got on clearance at Target. At first I matched them with a striped purple and black sweater but this time I toned them down with a green sweatshirt- which normally means more casual but I added my vintage black fur coat with my Walmart faux fur backpack, my purple fringe earrings (target again) fur loafers (also Target- its a Target type of day) and TADA! My purple Anastasia lipstick!

All of this made for a classic look even though I was wearing a sweatshirt! (It was pretty comfy and I was warm). So anytime you are thinking you can’t wear a sweatshirt cause it seems too casual; just add a few classy-sassy items and you can UP your wardrobe game.

I’m also still trying to see how many looks I can combine without adding a new item (shop my closet fun)! I’ve been re organizing my closet too and it gives me more ideas for new outfits so stay tuned!!

Gaming (In my House)

Hello friends!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I enjoyed myself immensely over the last four days off from work! I got to see some of my hubs family and then my children/grandchildren came over two of the last four days! I am so blessed!

I think the most fun I have is in “gaming” which means something different to me!

In our family, we love love love to play games! Lately we’ve been playing a lot of “Codenames”, “Sequence”, “Ticket to Ride”, “UNO” of course, “Pass the Pigs, and our grandkids gave us a new game “Skull King” which is very fun, a little like Pinochle, and my seven year old grandson is a whiz at! We played 10 rounds and yes I ended up winning (but that happened at the very last minute)! LOL

Our family loves all kinds of board games and card games. One epic game “Spoons” has resulted in physical injuries and dents in the walls as participants leap for spoons in acrobatic moves! I have so many fun memories of playing games with my children/grandchildren.

Check out these games listed above, you will not be disappointed!

Affordable Chic

Hello friends and happy weekend! Thank goodness we made it through the work week right??

Today I’m sharing how easy it is to be trendy and chic on a budget. When I say budget, I normally mean 40% off at JCPenney or 25% off Cartwheel app at Target or rewards from OldNavy cutting the price of a gorgeous coat to $10. This is my budget definition 😊 I love to get something fun and trendy for a great price!

Recently I found a gorgeous pair of pants at Target-Universal Thread that are a deep wine color- on sale -bogo 50% off. I also found a cute print top with a fun neckline and sleeves at JCPenney for 40% off. I combined these two things with last fall’s plaid jacket (also Target-WhoWhatWear and I believe on sale when I purchased) and my last year white boots from Charlotte Russe online-they were $20 and I’ve worn them tons of times.

Some people think you have to spend a lot of money to be on trend but these stores I’ve mentioned almost always have what I’m looking for -for the best price!

Next post I’ll share my $10 coat from OldNavy !

Warrior Weekend

Hello friends!

Happy Labor Day weekend! For me it really was a Labor Day yesterday! 😂

We drove up to my parents home in Wyoming Friday night (late Friday night- I discovered how hard it is to see on the toad when the cars traveling toward me have new headlights)! Or maybe it’s age- IDK!

Anyway yesterday morning we wore our grubby clothes (my sisters remarked they were glad none of us were dressed up and are au naturel for this fun filled day😂🤣)and rode in the back of the truck toward the back end of the property next to the forest (can’t walk up through the property to the fence because the bushes, quaking aspen, and other trees are so thick a person can’t get through).

So my step dad drove a truck up the neighboring sledding hill in waist high grass to where we (two sisters, hubs and I, parents) could walk to the fence in tramped down foliage (the foliage is tramped in this area because of cattle grazing and wildlife). The fence posts back there are rotting at the ground as they are 15 years old; so we spent the first couple of hours using hammers and flat head screwdrivers along with anything else that would work, to force out (super heavy duty) staples (is that what they’re called? they’re pretty thick and look nothing like normal staples but I’m not your typical ranch hand!) holding the barbed wire fence up. There are about 10 posts (interspersed with smaller posts not anchoring anything) that are rotted, so while my hubby pounds the staples, I am either holding the posts up so he has some leverage or pulling the posts out and tossing them behind us in the pile to haul away.

At one point I pulled on a post and as it came free from the barbed wire fence, the wire flipped up and hit me in the face. No mirror-no foul right? Although my face stings and I feel blood- I’m kind of a low pain tolerance person but we took pictures of all our injuries and made it seem fun in a way (the barbed wire punctured one sister in the arm and left a nasty mark- we should’ve had long sleeves- although I did wear long pants and closed toe shoes- I can’t speak for anyone else!) 😂😂

It was an adventure working on the fence and then watching hubs and Bob (step dad) felling dead trees to prepare for winter.

Later that day we worked on removing bushes (they were huge BTW, some at least 15 feet tall- and 6-8 ft wide) from along the fence in the front yard- volunteer wild roses and choke cherry bushes- so that was less of an adventure and more like work, but those bushes met their match- we are warriors baby!

Videos and a pic of my day enclosed, hope you like the scenery I added.

Wish List

Hey friends!

How are you all on this fine Wednesday? I hope everyone is well and happy 🙂

I thought I would share a little bit of my fun trip to Wyoming last weekend! I left on Thursday and returned Sunday.

Thursday I had some fun in the thriving metropolis of Thayne Wyoming (actually it’s a small town) but my aunt runs a food truck by a local motel (owned by a family member) and we sat and ate the best burgers ever, followed by fun conversation with my parents and aunt and uncle.

The next day I drove up to Afton (about 20 minutes away) to visit with my grandfather (who this year will be 97)! and my two aunts were also there visiting for the Lincoln County Fair! Later that afternoon we visited the fair and watched the Swift Idol (sort of like American Idol but small scale) of local voices under a big tent. That was enjoyable although hot hot hot 🙂 Afterwards enjoyed a rodeo! Yee haw!

Then Saturday my mother and I drove up to Jackson Hole (yes the same-just about 40 minutes from where I grew up) and puttered around town-we ate lunch at Wort Bar and Motel- saw a famous person (actually two older gentlemen approached our table with a pick up line-that was funny). We stopped at a regular store-TJMaxx where I found a gorgeous embroidered maxi dress by Free People which is to die for! Smoking deal too!

Then we visited some less than affordable shops around downtown Jackson Hole LOL. I tried on a gorgeous cowboy hat with jewels around the brim, it was so pretty but $400….yes that’s how much it was dang it. Hubby said I could buy it if we sold both our cars! LOL!

We drove back home later and attended another rodeo…I can’t believe I’ve seen three rodeo’s this summer! How much more fun is that?? It’s been a great summer ya’ll.

I’m sharing the pictures of the dress and a cute video of the super expensive hat I DID NOT PURCHASE LOL! I was explaining the hat to a co worker and she asked “Did you seriously buy the hat?? You are all about deals”! And I realized, she is right! I don’t like to spend loads of money, I like to get deals on stuff. That was a good reminder to be an affordable shopper.
