Wig Adventures??

Hello Friends!

How’s everyone doing this fine Thursday??

I thought I would share something that I can now laugh at in regards to my new wig!

Remember a few weeks ago I went bridge jumping and synchronized swimming? Well the same time I traveled with my daughter and her two children in my husband’s SUV, a Ford Explorer with apparently not enough room for the four of us. Granted we each brought a lot of stuff for six days which is necessary when traveling with children.

But we also brought three camp chairs and two inflatable river rafts. We anticipated playing in the lake and the river. We did float down the river and it was so fun (we got the rafts from Costco $20, a great deal). But we packed up our suitcases and all every day because we moved from one hotel room to another (alas we did not plan ahead) so packing up every day was a HUGE pain.

This is where my wig comes into play. There were a few days I did not wear my wig because we were doing water sports, so I brought a couple nice towels from home and I wrapped my wig carefully in the towels and put it all in my suitcase. On the afternoon we were bridge jumping, my grandchildren were playing in the lake and it started to rain. You might notice this on my video in my bridge jumping post. The wind started to blow and it got quite a bit colder than previously. My daughter told me she was getting towels out of the car.

I thought she meant her towels, I did not know she meant my towels which nestled my wig…my $500 wig. So she arrived back with towels and we headed to the Explorer with the kiddies wrapped up warm.

My daughter walked up to me and explained she found my wig laying next to the road by the bridge as she brought her children up the hillside!

Holy mother of pearl! My wig was laying on the ground?? In the dirt?? Next to the road?? How can this be?? I said a few choice words before we figured out she had opened my suitcase and grabbed my towels without noticing the carefully wrapped wig….oh my heavens.

Well when I calmed down (!!!!!) I told her I was sorry for getting mad at her and I brushed out my wig, so thankful that she had noticed it lying on the side of the road (I didn’t see it there?) and picked up and big wad of hair without really knowing why it was there. I’m so thankful my sweet daughter picked up my new wig!

I’m sure my wig will have many adventures over the next several months.

I wore part of my black Halo on a rollercoaster July 4th and it never even came off! I was upside down for quite awhile, so there’s another adventure right??

You never know what life will throw at you!

Vacation Time

Hello Friends and happy Wednesday!

Holy cow it has been a minute right??

I went on vacation the middle of June and am almost caught back up.

My husband and I went on a wonderful trip to Peru! It was amazing friends! If you’re ever able to make it, you should!

Our itinerary: We flew to Lima and spent the day touring the city, we then flew to Cusco-drove south of Cusco to Aqua Caliente where we stayed for three nights.

We visited the remains of a temple at Ollantatambo, stopped to sample barbecued guinea pig, hiked remains of a temple at Pisaq and visited a silver smithing store and a world famous potter-Gemanario- where we got my husband a gorgeous wall sconce for father’s day (he spent the rest of our trip carrying it around all boxed up LOL-but it got home in one piece).

We then took an amazing day to see Machu Picchu (the bus ride up the mountain with all the crazy switchbacks was wild!) and it was breathtaking, I can’t explain how mind boggling it is to actually see in person!

The next day we spent exploring temple ruins (several) in Cusco including Qoricancha, stopped at a Llama farm, and explored Cusco on foot outside of our tour company. That was fun and Cusco is a fabulous city.

The next day we flew from Cusco to Juliaca which is a much higher elevation and we drove through the countryside (visiting a family farm and ruins of a pre incan burial ground before we made our way to Puno (elevation 13,500) right on the edge of Lake Titicaca. I had a little bit of altitude sickness that day and spent some time with oxygen in the morning and at night to help adjust. We took a boat ride out on the lake to visit the Uros floating Islands which was way way cool and then we were out in the body of the lake and far far in the distance, we could see the side of Bolivia.

That night we took a taxi into Puno and ate at a fun Chinese restaurant (yes in Peru-only two chinese people in all of Puno!) and made our way back to the hotel through a group of people protesting in front of a court building. That was interesting, I heard a couple of people say “gringos” LOL but we were safe!

The next morning we began our two day flight back to the USA. We flew from Juliaca to Cusco, Cusco to Lima, Lima to LA and LA to SLC. We had a nine hour layover in Lima and a six hour layover in LA.

Finally we made it home and I was tired, but we sure had fun! It was an amazing trip and I love the country of Peru!

I hope you enjoy some of my pictures!

(Another post later this week will address my wardrobe issues while on this trip 😂)!

What’s Hair

Hello Friends and happy Friday! I hope everyone has some relaxation planned this weekend! I’ve mowed lawns and mopped floors this week, so that Saturday I can spend in my yard doing a little rose pruning. I think it will be relaxing 🙂

I’ve been following Rachel Hollis and have a strong interest in her Start Today Journal but have not bought said journal. She has a podcast detailing how to do the journal without actually buying one and I listened to that.

I finally decided to write down 10 of my dreams in the manner Rachel recommends.

The interesting thing about this exercise…I realized that none of my dreams have anything to do with my hair.

My hair (possibly in conjunction with my autoimmune disease-I am not sure) has been falling out at a terrific rate. I was a bit distressed by this until I went over my 10 dreams and got a little perspective.

One thing I realized, it’s not important, in the whole scheme of things whether my hair falls out or not.

I am an exceptional wife, mother and grandmother

I have XXXXX dollars in the bank

I am financially independent

I am a world traveler

I am a marathon bicyclist

I am spiritually connected to God

You see, there is nothing about my hair! There is also nothing about my looks. This was very helpful for me. I highly recommend Rachel Hollis system or really any of your choice that prompts you to list your goals in present stated form. I AM or I HAVE

We can all be our best person and that has nothing to do with my HAIR!

(I’m wearing my Halo in this picture FYI)

Simple Outfits for a Win!

Hello friends!

Happy Memorial Day weekend! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

I thought I would share a couple simple outfits that are classy and have some personality! You know outfits with personality are one of my favorite ways to dress 🙂 Both outfits showcase white shirts, just because I think white is a great color to wear in the heat of summer.

The first two outfits show the same peasant embroidered shirt. One day I wore it with raw edge ankle crop jeans and a camo jacket (cause it was quite cold) and another day I wore it with high waisted wide leg crop jeans (same wedges each time) and I can’t decide which outfit I like more! I really like the shirt with camo as it’s such a juxtaposition of styles which really speaks to me! I love the opposite idea….a lovely peasant embroidered shirt, so genteel and delicate/dainty with the tough look of camo. It’s like saying “you really don’t know me at all, I’m a lady AND don’t underestimate me! LOL it’s such fun!

Then the next two outfits, I’m wearing a basic button up white shirt (with a little bit of texture) with shorts AND some cropped striped pants. Either are fun and provide a little bit different personality to fit different plans for your day. I have worn short to work before but I always try to pair it with something really fancy to dress them up. Typically shorts would be a weekend outfit idea or for a summer holiday. The cropped striped pants can also be a weekend outfit, summer holiday or work outfit.

I love the idea of an interesting white top/shirt (all these items are super affordable and on sale at JCPenney) to dress anything up or make an outfit simple AND fun!

It’s A Colorful Spring

Hello friends and Happy Wednesday!

I was thinking of all the bright colors in my closet this spring and had a little giggle reflecting back to the movie “Devil Wore Prada”- “florals for spring? Groundbreaking”! LOL! I think spring is always full of bright, fun colors but for some reason I’m really rocking them (no matter what Miranda Priestly says- I don’t need her permission, I don’t work for her!)

So I thought I would share two of this week’s fun bright spring looks that I love (closet shopping win)!

First I couldn’t resist going all purple/pink on Monday! Seriously, who can resist such fun colors! Purple is actually my favorite color (I might not own enough purple items, that’s something I would love to fix). I wore pink slacks with a pink/blue/purple plaid blouse from JCPenney along with my purple Walmart espadrilles and a super cute lavender bag I snagged from Target. (All of these items are budget friendly-my JCPenney shopping usually involves a discount or coupon and obviously my Walmart shoes are not breaking the bank 😉

I LOVED LOVED being all pink and purple…I think I was more cheerful and pleasant (ok the sun was shining too) but color really seems to make me happy.

Then yesterday I had to wear more COLOR! Specifically I wore my bright poppin yellow slack, a floral/striped blouse, my super cute yellow polka dot kitten heels and a bold pink bag! I was feeling very bright and happy! My slacks, blouse, and bag are all JCPenney (bag and blouse are old) and my heels are a special find from DSW about a month ago. So far I’m trying to wear them as often as possible as they are so super cute and very comfy.

I hope these colorful looks are inspiring to you and give you the courage to try something fun for yourself. Don’t be afraid to wear what you want. You might inspire someone else too!

Laughter, the Best Medicine

Hello friends and happy Thursday!

I just had to share something hilarious from last night.

Our daughter and her two children (age 8 and 4) are living with us. It’s been a big change for all of us and we often have such fun!

Last night my husband came home late from work; he’s been working long hours the last couple of weeks and I think the grandchildren miss seeing him because they go to bed around 8pm. So last night after arriving home, hubs is in the bathroom and my four year old grandson is really anxious to see grandpa!

He is standing outside the bathroom yelling to his grandpa….and we can hear the whole conversation….

“Grandpa unlock the door”….”just a minute bud, I’m almost done”

“Grandpa are you done”? ….”just a minute bud, I just got home from work”

” Grandpa Are you wiping“???!! (SILENCE)…..

OH MY HECK I COULD NOT STOP LAUGHING!! THIS WAS A EPIC LAUGH TOO!

I IMMEDIATELY SENT A TEXT MESSAGE TO HUBS IN THE BATHROOM….ARE YOU WIPING???? LOL

This comedic moment brought to you by my sweet four year old grandson. You are welcome.

Feeling Very Mellow in my Yellow

Hello Friends and Happy Monday!

It’s the first Monday in May! I’m so excited for warmer weather! My yard is coming back to life and I love all the new blooms and leaves. Spring is such a wonderful time.

I thought I would share my love for yellow this season! I invested in several yellow pieces: yellow blazer and pants along with yellow lace dress from JCPenney, and yellow polka dot pumps from DSW. I think I’ve worn one of these pieces at least twice a week since I’ve added them to my closet! How fun is that? I love to take pieces and just wear them on repeat with SEVERAL other items. It makes me feel very creative and a smartie pants when I do this.

So here I am sharing my several mellow yellow outfits! This might just be my favorite color this year!!
