Mellow Yellow

Hello Friends and Happy Monday! You might ask, is Monday happy? How can that be? Well I didn’t have terrible traffic on the way to work, I was able to check all my emails and update my excel sheet before my two groups. I’m now able to create a blog post on my lunch hour, the sun is shining….that’s enough to make me happy! Actually, just the sunshine makes me happy, it’s been raining forever (I exaggerate a bit right?) LOL

So I wanted to share my discovery of the color yellow! I wore it a few times last summer but did not really throw myself into it. I just dipped my toe in the yellow shade with some other colors to balance it out. But this spring, I’m all in friends! ALL IN!

I discovered this awesome yellow (Pineapple-on the website) jacket and matching pants at JCPenney-Worthington and I was in love! Is it a lot of yellow? YES and that’s what makes it fun! It’s so bright and colorful you just can’t help but smile. I was deciding what to wear with it and I landed on this cute melon top (also JCPenney) that just makes all the yellow pop the more and added a melon lippie to go with it. I needed shoes too but have a white floral pump from OldNavy last year that is perfect with this spring look! (These items are also very affordable)

I got so many compliments that I was so happy I went out on a ledge to wear all yellow. It’s seriously the bomb and you will love the way you feel wearing all one bright color this spring! Try it out, you won’t regret!

Trolling the Junior Section

Hello friends and Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a good weekend! I had the best time with four of my grandkids, they are so precious; I am very blessed. Not to mention they are a hoot! One grandson in response to a question, did you get enough bacon tonight said “Yes (in a news commentator tone) I had 23 pieces”! LOL! One granddaughter proves herself to be an excellent shopper in training at Build A Bear and had a stash of $$$ things she wanted but was very sweet to put most of it back. Another granddaughter is developing her sense of humor and put a dinosaur growl into her sweet lovable snugly kitty! Another grandson is at the age where he is learning about his emotions and is not quite adept at being effective to express himself (code: he had a meltdown in the parking lot when asked to hold hands for his safety, btw grandma is not going to let him run through parking lots)! Anyway it was fun and I love them so much!

I think these little people keep me young because I find myself trolling the junior section of Target looking for trendy, colorful and different wardrobe pieces that I can adapt for myself. I discovered this AH-mazing skirt (it’s so colorful and the material is kind of bumpy so there is that textural piece that is fun). I paired it with boots also from Target (these two items from their Wild Fable line-I’m guessing it’s targeting young women, but hey it’s cute so head there next time you’re in Target) and I added a spring-y graphic T from JCPenney, I just love graphic tees but I want my message to fit who I am, so this one is bomb! I also (just for kicks) added a real distressed jean jacket (last year from Forever 21) and my snugly faux fur backpack (from Walmart) and here ya go! A fun, trendy, colorful outfit that fits my personality!

WHO CARES ABOUT AGE?? THIS FITS ME TO A “T”!

Ways to Wear Red

Hello Friends and Happy Wednesday!

I’m always glad to make it to Wednesday because that means I’m halfway through my week and I know I can get through the remainder 🙂 I encourage myself by  viewing it this way LOL, I have to talk to myself like this, I bet other people do something similar.

Anyway, I’ve been wearing a lot of red lately but in different ways and I thought I would share several ways to wear red that are fun and new.

First: I paired my Express Camo leggings with a simple black T, my fun army green JCPenney cardigan complete with cool military type decals (only girly), added several necklaces for a tough girl vibe and topped it all off with my favorite red lip (Stila Long Lasting Liquid Lip Color in Fiery-my favorite BTW.

Second: I wore this fabulous pink/red sweater from Asos and some boyfriend jeans from Target, while adding this super cute heart print bag (also Target) and added white boots from Charlotte Russe. This is one of my favorite outfits, seriously the sweater fits so well and is flattering and I’ve got so many compliments on the sweater AND the freakin cute bag. I think I’ll keep both forever or until I’ve worn them out LOL

Third: I found an amazing shirt dress from H&M in snakeprint that I’ve worn three times already, and this time I paired it with my red Asos glossy boots and long red earrings. This dress is so bomb, I’ve worn it as a duster too…there are so many outfit combinations (but going back to red, it pairs really fun and pop with red)!

Fourth: You guys have seen this H&M sweater before, I’ve had it about a year but it goes with so many things! It’s a geometric print combining red/white/black and it’s amazing. I paired it with my perfect leopard coat and that super cute, super fun heart bag-both from Target along with some white earrings a friend gave me (also Target-SugarFix bauble bar) with black jeans and black cozy-faux fur loafers (also Target). This outfit is super fun while also giving me another chance to wear that amazing red liquid lipstick from Stila I mentioned earlier.

I hope you’ve enjoyed all these different ways I wear red and I hope it gives you ideas on how you can incorporate some of the color into your outfit choices too! If anyone needs any help in combining outfits or patterns or colors, please let me know! I am happy to help out!

Together at Last! (A boot story)

Hello friends and happy weekend!

I’m sharing a story of two loves recently reunited! It involves a cold spring trip to Chicago 😂

In 2016 I accompanied hubs on a work training he had in Chicago the end of April. I was super excited because I had never been and I could do some sightseeing while he was training.

I checked the weather on a couple of apps and it said 50 degrees or so and so I brought several warmer spring outfits and a couple light cardigans. (Those of you living in Chicago or having visited at that time might guess what happened) 😂🤣

It was freakin cold! Everyone was bundled up, still wearing coats and boots and I brought spring clothing! Holy cow! I even brought sandals. Yes I was miserable and the only one in the city wearing sandals but I still went out and took a (very cold) boat tour of the city. It was amazing and I’d love to go back-in the summer.

While I was there I momentarily visited the (is it five stories) Macys downtown! Normally I could spend all day doing this but I was with two other (work wives) and they weren’t much into shopping-unfortunately 🙁 but I was looking for a pair of boots! There are always good reasons to buy boots but this time I was looking for something to keep my feet warm.

I ended up finding a black suede pair with fringe on the side- only they were a 9 1/2 and I wear a 10. They were a wee bit tight but I needed boots bad and they were cute.

I spent the remainder of the trip wearing these too small boots and by the time we were flying home I knew I couldn’t keep them. I gave them to my youngest daughter and she wears them with thick socks 😂

BUT! This week at Target (of course at Target) I found a cute (size 10) pair of short black cowboy boots with fringe! How lucky am I to reunite with my fringe boots???

Reunited and it feels (and fits) so good!!

Shopping my closet for Pink

Hello Friends!

I thought I would start out the week right by sharing a recent shopping trip to my own closet!

I have a pink pleated skirt (Asos) a pink sweater (H&M) both from last year and I love pink! I got some inspiration from my friend @trinagrand to wear all one color as a bold styling tip. I paired my skirt and sweater with some glittery earrings (Charming Charlies), a leopard scarf (Target), and my leopard pumps (Oldnavy). All these items are at least a year old but they look new when paired together!

Monochromatic pairings are very chic and trendy right now and get a special boost with the leopard accessories and sparkle. I think it also gives me a special boost in confidence by just wearing these bold colors!

I am thinking of wearing this ensemble to hubs Christmas party in the next couple weeks; it will be cold so I might add my faux fur leopard coat, won’t that be festive??

I hope these next weeks of posts inspire you to SHOP YOUR CLOSET too!

Faux Fur Fun

Hello friends and welcome!

It’s starting to get brrrrrr cold here (there was a bitter wind blowing today-went right through me) and I wanted to share how fun faux fur can be and stay warm at the same time! Score! Plus it’s so trendy right now which is a big bonus!

First I have my new leopard faux fur coat that I’ve blogged about before (amazingly enough it’s also in the new copy of InStyle magazine (with Jlo on the cover) so I thought myself soooo on trend cause I already have this lovely coat from Target! Yep Target! (Evil laugh 😆 because I foiled the dastardly enemies luring me to pay heinous prices for clothes!)

Last year I also had a sweet snag of a red faux fur coat from H&M before it totally sold out! I think it was a wee bit more than my Target coat but not much and the color is so pretty-it looks very luxe.

The year before last year I found a black coat with faux fur around the hood (I think it was 50% off) at Target. I have three faux fur vests- two from TJMaxx and one 50% off from Cabi (one is tan, one black, and one is a combination of black/gray/dark blue) I used to have a white one but I have it away (never get rid of special items like this BTW 😂) and there is a pink one at JCPenney that has my 👁!

About 18 years ago I had a favorite black leopard sweater with black faux fur on cuffs and collar and that was one of my first faux fur forays from Kmart(YES Kmart) – (I’m trying to think of as many applicable “F” words as I can 😂- I’m in a silly mood!)

Anyway!! Don’t be afraid of wearing something a little bold! Find yourself a little bit or a lot of faux fur and see how much attitude you develop!

Fierce boots (and public naps)

Hello friends! I hope all your weekend was enjoyable!

Hubs and I went to Thriller at the Tuacahn Amphitheater in Ivins Utah yesterday, it was a fun weekend getaway.

Last week on IG I posted a picture of boots I wore compared with converse I wanted to wear while trapped in a mall (not usually difficult for me) while my iPhone is repaired.

That morning I wasn’t thinking about mall walking- I thought about chic as I got ready for work. I wore my patterned red sweatshirt (sort of a sweater) from H&M with my boyfriend jeans -Target and my shiny spiky red boots ASOS. Although after Apple store told me it would take an hour- I was conflicted. Should I stomp around the store in my not super comfy heels (comfy for work, not for mall walking) or should I just pass time in my car?

I choose my car and actually fell asleep for about 20 minutes-no WiFi became more of a bigger issue. That’s when I remembered the few times I have fell asleep in public:

#1- on my school bus in high school- I fell asleep with my face on a magazine, (luckily I was last one off) so no one saw the newsprint transferred to my face! Lol

#2-in the library at Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho) I was solid asleep on the table and drooling a little bit.

#3- in one of the halls at UVU for my Bachelor degree- I napped during class (I was there all day to save time running from campus to home every day several times) and weeks later at a study group- one male participant commented I looked like someone he saw sleeping in the hall with their mouth wide open! Awkward! 😂🤣

I don’t have good history of sleeping in public without something odd happening so although my boots were fierce (Jodie this was your comment ❤️), at least I didn’t nap inside the mall!
