So I’m still not feeling well and had this idea that it might be good to get out and get some fresh air…I thought maybe the sunshine and fresh air would help me feel better as laying on a couch has NOT LOL..
So I drove to Target which usually has an invigorating effect (I thought walking around would give me some energy, seriously this is the worse flu I have ever experienced-my head and eye socket still hurt-probably TMI). Even though my plan did not help, I found some wonderful items at Target! and quickly came home to lay back down (of course).
I found a darling pair of black/white checked flats with bows that were on clearance, which will go so cute with this green, black/white floral patterned dress. I also tried on a long lavender cardigan (so spring) and a striped pink button up shirt and some pearl studded jeans (also on clearance). I found some great fashion deals, tried out my fresh air experiment, and got some sunshine; although still feel poorly. (Back at home, watching Sherlock Holmes-Robert Downey Jr/Jude Law style-gotta love Guy Ritchie).
I recommend each of you run to Target, even if you feel ill. They have some great deals, check out the clearance aisles in shoes and clothes!
So since I’ve been sick, I’ve been watching a lot of movies. Usually when I’m sick, I watch a lot of Jane Austen…but this time I seem to be hooked on disaster movies. Being sick calls for lengthy movies (so one doesn’t have to constantly get up and put another movie in…Jane Austen movies….especially Pride and Prejudice…go on forever! Which I love, I love the period dramas/comedies…they’re so fascinating but also long which is perfect when one is ill) But this time, since I just went on a cruise, I felt a fascination with Titanic and Rose DeWitt Bukater!
She went on a cruise-I went on a cruise…granted her cruise ended differently than mine. I noticed one thing:I am not the biggest high maintenance woman on this planet!
I offer evidence of my claim: here is a picture of me at the airport with our luggage (I have two 50# checked bags and one carry on bag (my husband also has two checked bags, but I’ve put shoes in one of his so I guess you have to count them all) and here are pictures of Rose DeWitt Bukater’s luggage (character played by Kate Winslet) “all the trunks from that car there, 12 from here, and the safe to the parlour suite rooms B52, 54, and 56”-explains Cal’s assistant, that bad guy that’s always harassing Rose and Jack. I don’t have near the same number of bags, of course she had these huge hats and several beaded dresses along with corsets that took a lot of room; but holy cow they had TRUNKS…have you ever seen a trunk? I could’ve got all my clothes in my closet into one trunk…I only had two suitcases and a carryon…who knew I’m a simple woman.
Maybe I need to up my game? I’ll be pondering my simple nature (compared to Rose DeWitt Bukater) while I watch another disaster movie-“2012” which coincidentally also has a cruise ship… maybe the next movie will be “Poseidon”???
Hello friends and happy weekend!
I’ve finally started packing for my trip! But before that, I made a few stops to pick up: Dramamine, ear plugs, small hand lotion, vitamins, hand sanitizer, cash, and gas in my car! Just normal stuff really.
Since I’ve been home, I’ve washed my clothes, got down suitcases, set out each of my outfits/work out clothes and brainstormed shoes/jewelry to wear on each day (not working out of course)…and my swimsuit bottom finally arrived! It fits and for the most part is cute with the top (that was cutting it close right??) Tell me what you think of my choices??
I have to make another decision-there are two fancy dinners to attend and here are the choices of dresses: silver/taupe sparkly, red velvet, and black/white striped. Which do you like better?? I will end up taking at least five pairs of shoes, I don’t see any other way around it now LOL
So now I just have makeup and hair stuff to pack which will have to be done in the morning-there’s just no other way to do it!
Our flight leaves at 1:50pm tomorrow!
Hey my friends!
In one day and 15 hours I will be leaving on vacation and I’ve been concerned….maybe you don’t realize that I’m kind of a high maintenance woman? It might be clear with all of the makeup, jewelry, clothes, shoes….yada yada yada along with other essentials like shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, moisturizer, eye shadow, hats, sunscreen, (maybe a swimsuit, one shipment hasn’t came in the mail yet, little worried) comb, brush, clips, q tips, blow dryer, curling iron….you get the gist right???
How does a fashionista or high maintenance woman go on vacation without packing the whole house along the way?? I have a stack of outfits in my closet I’ve planned to wear in the climate we are visiting, along with a stack of possible swimsuits that aren’t going to work…I’m trying to decide exactly what shoes to bring. I can’t bring them all but want to make sure I have a couple pair of sandals and some shoes for walking…is that all I’ll need?? Well no, there’s going to be a couple fancy dinners over this period so I need to bring a couple of fancy dresses along with shoes, jewelry, and the obligatory shaper (the only thing I DON’T think I’ll need is hose) LOL.
Are you starting to see my problem? I also wonder what I’m gonna carry my essentials in?? I have several (many) purses here at home but I’m not taking several purses. I think it would be best if I just took one, so will my straw bag work? And should I take my myriad of lipsticks and liners just in case?? Oh my gosh, you are seeing my problem aren’t you? Obviously this is a first world problem and really not a bad thing but there ya go, I’m a super high maintenance woman trying to figure out how to pack minimally while STILL having what I need. THIS IS GONNA BE TRICKY!
Stay tuned…. 🙂
(The picture I shared is how my vacation SHOULD look) 😂 high expectations might get me in trouble! And FYI I’m not even packed yet- just thinking about it!
First I want to say thank you for reading my blog, I feel super grateful for all the support in my new venture into blogging and wanted all of you to know I appreciate you!
I thought for Friday fun, I would share my last couple of days of fashion choices 🙂
I try to combine things that are different but fun and here is what I wore yesterday and today!
Yesterday I felt like wearing my gray with pink polka dot shirt from Express, so I combined it with my pink Express jeans. I felt a dilemma because I needed a jacket but nothing seemed to match until I grabbed this tan cardigan from OldNavy, it has a pink hue and with my silver/sparkle boots from Nordstrom Rack set the whole outfit perfectly. I rationalized that tan is close to gold (hue wise) and thought it would be fun to add my gold earrings with silver stones and my leather tan wrap bracelet with pink stones. I think it’s fun to combine lots of different elements for a complex look! I think this one is a win!
Today I had to wear my new embroidered Express jeans! I’ve been searching forever for a well fitting pair of embroidered jeans and finally! Me and Express seem to go well together, their fit and rise is perfect for my shape, so I was super excited. In warmer months I would wear these jeans with a T shirt but it’s super cold so I grabbed a tan sweater (H&M) and my tan boots (I almost have a cowgirl thing going on which I totally love!) then the piece de resistance (I’m sure I spelled that wrong) is my H&M red Faux Fur coat….oh my gosh how much more fun can Friday be without being a weekend or a holiday???
High Waist Embroidered Stretch Jeggings
Polka Dot City Shirt
Short Faux Fur Jacket (similar to mine, but mine sold out quick)
So I worked out yesterday and today! Yay me! I do feel better when I work out. It was interesting though. At the gym I rode the stationary bike for eight miles…felt very accomplished and strong…I love bike riding although it’s more fun outside, same with hiking/walking. Although there is snow and ice out there now so I’m not taking any chances.
I got a bicycle for my birthday this year and I love it…except for the seat. One day I rode 10 miles and it wasn’t hard except my pelvis was in super pain, seriously I felt like something was broken every time I went over a bump. That’s not good right??
Yesterday when I rode eight miles, I’m not even sore today. Not my legs and not other parts, so I’ve decided gotta get rid of that seat on my bicycle or get some different shorts. My son told me about bike shorts that have cushion in them, to get them at Big 5. I’ll do one or the other, cause I’ve gotta ride my bike 🙂
I also talked with my cousin about her Maskcara line of makeup to cover my rosacea and she is getting me a kit to try out. Sometimes I think my foundation is so dark to cover my rosacea that I look like I have a spray tan LOL! I normally have fair skin if it wasn’t for my rosacea, although I tan easily (before rosacea also). So when I get my kit from Maskcara, I will be excited and I’ll make a video putting it on….then we can all see which foundation looks better on me!
Before I sign off, I wanted to add some pics of my clothes and makeup today. I’m wearing a shirt and jeans from Express, jacket from JCPenney, and check out these cute shoes from Target!! My son/daughter in law got me a Target gift card and these are so fun! My makeup is a new color by Stila- Magnificent Metals-Smoky Storm on my lids and I used a green shade from Urban Decay above that…although it turned out red? I was like WTF?? Why is this red? So here it is….I didn’t take it off cause that would take too long and my day is a wasting…LOL! Tell me what you think 🙂
These are my New Years plans….new seat for bike and new foundation..then my daughter and I are doing makeovers on New Years Day! Doesn’t that sound like fun? What are your New Years plans?
I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable New Years! See you all in 2018!
I used to have a black/red shirt from Macys (INC) that reminded me of a race car. The majority of the shirt was black and the red is a stripe that ran at an angle from one side to the other! I loved that shirt, although it was a cold shoulder shirt that I tried to wear as a normal shirt and it just didn’t work…so I had to get rid of it. I really miss that race car shirt…
Today I realized I have my race car shirt again! I found this awesome black sweater with red stripes around the cuffs at Express. Today I wore this sweater with my Express destroyed skinny jeans and my red Asos booties with my leopard JCPenney bag (just to break things up, I worried I looked like a burglar, too much black LOL) and just now I looked down as I walked through the hall at work and all of a sudden I realized….I look like a race car again!
How fun is this???? It’s sort of like I’m Lightning McQueen if you know who that is. And let’s be honest, the thing I love most next to fashion (and holidays and nerdy movies-Star Wars is on my radar!) is CARS…FAST CARS…so wouldn’t that be cool if I could be a race car?? I would be a red and black Dodge Challenger or a bright green Chevrolet Camaro…YES that would make my day. Dressing like a race car will have to do….FWP (first world problems-I told you I had an active imagination)

Morning my friends!
I love to layer and fall/winter is the easiest time to do this, but I don’t just mean “layers” as in coat, sweater, scarf; I mean layers as in textures, shine, shapes, patterns, and colors.
This morning I really wanted to wear my burgundy beanie with the pink poof. I’ve really been waiting to wear this for about a month when mama and I shopped at Express. I got this darling pink ruffle sleeve sweater and a burgundy beanie with a pink poof. Of course it was about 75 degrees a month ago and a beanie then is just too hot. Maybe you say a beanie doesn’t work for someone my age? I really don’t think that is the case. Look how cute this beanie is with the sweater! I’m in love!
So when I say layering; I paired the sweater with a plaid (gray/brown/cream) pants from H&M, my silver (Mars landing looking) Nordstrom Rack boots really shiny, square shiny silver earrings, my burgundy bag from Charming Charlie’s, and of course my new best friend: my velvet bomber from Target. This is what I mean by layering; this becomes an outfit with several complex, interesting, and complimentary items which makes it really fun! I had thought of doing pink velvet booties but I realized the pants bring out a kind of silvery brown look (if you cross your eyes looking at them Haha) so I thought the shiny silver boots would be fun and unexpected. Fun and unexpected is a thing I like! Be fun and unexpected today! How does that look for you??
Oh my goodness, so this morning I woke up to rain on my patio and I just knew this would be the day I could wear my velvet jacket! Yes I have been waiting to wear my snugly burgundy velvet (blanket) masquerading as a jacket. I got it at Target and it’s so soft, fluffy, and important: warm. It seems like something everyone would love 🙂 So I had to wait for a colder day. I got up and looked outside and it’s snowing in the mountains, YES! Normally this isn’t something I would be super excited about, but….apparently today is opposite day. I’ve been waiting forever to take this jacket for a roll and finally! I mean it’s November….seriously…do you know Friday it was 70 degrees? I’m sitting here with all these snugly sweaters and jackets in my closet and I’m a tiny bit impatient…like that’s a newsflash! Anyone that doesn’t know I’m impatient please raise your hand…see no one raised their hand. Everyone knows…
So there are several things I think could work with this gorgeous velvet bomber jacket:
- Today (Sunday) I wore with a black and tan/cream floral printed skirt-black crew sweater, and my black booties. I really think this is a fun look and the burgundy of my jacket set off my eye shadow blending skills from Saturday’s Urban Decay event and my lipstick, while really flattering the other pieces. I haven’t put these items together before, but it’s fun to be creative with things I already have in my closet.
- Friday the hubs and I are attending a Veterans Day concert with some good friends (Gibbs’ are you there?) and I have a dusty pink dress (slip dress type of material, slinky but with sleeves) that I’m going to pair with this jacket and I’m thinking it will look very luxe. I’ll add pictures on Friday.
- Tomorrow is supposed to be icky, rainy, and cold (high of 48, which means it’s snowing in the mountains) and I thought I would wear my leopard jeans, white tee, my tan booties and this velvet jacket to stay nice and cozy while returning to work because it’s a Monday and work I go 🙂 Just because the weather is dreary does not mean I dress dreary (that should be on a crosstitch-kind of like my motto huh!)
I’m so happy velvet is in vogue right now, it’s seriously the funnest and comfiest fabric to wear. It’s like dragging your blanket around with you all day, I’m surprised everyone doesn’t do this. It’s a blanket, no it’s a jacket, no it’s a blanket…maybe I secretly want a security blanket? Everyone, it’s your assignment to find something velvet to wear and rock that like it’s 1999! Bahahaha! Have a great week all!
