It’s A Colorful Spring

Hello friends and Happy Wednesday!

I was thinking of all the bright colors in my closet this spring and had a little giggle reflecting back to the movie “Devil Wore Prada”- “florals for spring? Groundbreaking”! LOL! I think spring is always full of bright, fun colors but for some reason I’m really rocking them (no matter what Miranda Priestly says- I don’t need her permission, I don’t work for her!)

So I thought I would share two of this week’s fun bright spring looks that I love (closet shopping win)!

First I couldn’t resist going all purple/pink on Monday! Seriously, who can resist such fun colors! Purple is actually my favorite color (I might not own enough purple items, that’s something I would love to fix). I wore pink slacks with a pink/blue/purple plaid blouse from JCPenney along with my purple Walmart espadrilles and a super cute lavender bag I snagged from Target. (All of these items are budget friendly-my JCPenney shopping usually involves a discount or coupon and obviously my Walmart shoes are not breaking the bank 😉

I LOVED LOVED being all pink and purple…I think I was more cheerful and pleasant (ok the sun was shining too) but color really seems to make me happy.

Then yesterday I had to wear more COLOR! Specifically I wore my bright poppin yellow slack, a floral/striped blouse, my super cute yellow polka dot kitten heels and a bold pink bag! I was feeling very bright and happy! My slacks, blouse, and bag are all JCPenney (bag and blouse are old) and my heels are a special find from DSW about a month ago. So far I’m trying to wear them as often as possible as they are so super cute and very comfy.

I hope these colorful looks are inspiring to you and give you the courage to try something fun for yourself. Don’t be afraid to wear what you want. You might inspire someone else too!

Spring is for Pastels!

Hey friends!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

I thought I would share a new fun color combination that I just love!

I follow (subscribe) to WhoWhatWear- it’s a really trendy fun line of clothing (some of which is carried by Target) but they have a big IG presence and always have fun articles on new trends or fun colors to wear.

One of the recent color combinations they highlighted that I love is mint green with red, pink or blue. I thought that was really fun and so creative!

Then the other day I was in JCPenney and discovered the cutest striped pastel blouse and of course I eventually decided to pair it with pastel pink slacks! So many fun pastels to brighten up the day! (Of course I had to wear pink sandals and a pink heart necklace along with my classic Betsy Johnson pink/cream bag with big bow!) I was feeling very understated today 😜

AND I LOVED IT! So try out the pastel trend for yourself! I think you will love it!

Crushing on Color

Hello friends and happy Thursday!

I love Thursday because it’s right next to Friday and I know I’ve worked really hard and the weekend is my reward! Yay!

Hubs gave me an update to our retirement plan this week: work 10 more years and then we can retire-??? 🙁 gosh…only ten huh? 😂 but I think to myself, I just have to get through it one week at a time 😊

Anyway back to more fun subjects; I’ve got so much satisfaction shopping my closet that I continued with this fun look!

My raspberry suede look pants, raspberry hat, and snakeskin boots are all from Target- the most recent purchase was about October so the pants might still be in the store.

My duster is from Express; I snagged it I think in September for around 50% off. And my tank top is years old from Ann Taylor but I love the texture of all the layers and silver. I added a couple of fun necklaces -the pink heart necklace I bought from Mervyns about 14 years ago when I worked there as an associate. (I keep the things I love)

Anyway this was such a fun outfit to wear, mostly due to all the raspberry and pink tones, it’s one of my favorites!

Look through your own closet and rediscover jewels that you haven’t worn for awhile. I love doing this!

More of the stuff I Love

Hello Friends and happy Friday!

It’s been a three day work week for me and boy has it been hard. Who knew a three day week would be so difficult. I guess it’s hard to have four days off and then boom, be back in the grind….it’s an adjustment right??

So I thought I would continue (on some posts) of the same closet shopping I’ve been doing for the past month. I am enjoying discovering new ways to wear the old stuff I love and I hope you enjoy it too!

Today I wore a denim look top by Target (Universal Thread) combined with my gray Express stretch jeans, boots and scarf also by Target and my glittery drop earrings by Charlotte Ruse (right before their store closed, several years ago). I added a pop of pink/purple on my lips (purple/blue/pink all go so well together) and a pink pop tiny bag from JCPenney. Purple is one of my favorite colors, so when I can mix it with blue and pink, I somehow feel very happy and I think it’s a flattering color for my skin tone. TIP: Try to find colors that flatter you and wear them often! Learn more about your skin undertones.

Today’s scarf is a larger size and really is keeping me warm today (TIP: items snuggled around your neck are good warming strategies! I have several heavy fabric and/or faux fur scarves and these are so toasty) as it’s 17 degrees when I left for work! 17! Honestly you’d think I live in the Arctic! It’s this part of winter that I’m not super pumped for (snow on Christmas is one thing but below zero temperatures and freezing pipes are not a few of my favorite things!) oh and these pictures are taken later in the day when it’s a balmy 30! 😂

Everyone have a wonderful weekend! I will check in with another post before the New Year arrives!

Thrifting to be Thankful

Hello Friends!

Wow I hope everyone is staying warm! We had a huge snowstorm last night into today and there is about 8 inches of wet cold snow out there. Be safe too!

I’m continuing my thankful thrifting/shopping my closet today! This will be a regular feature until after Christmas. I hope you enjoy 🙂

Today I’m sharing a pink/gold/cream ensemble from last year and earlier this year. I snagged these gorgeous gold pull on pants from TJMaxx in July (In Jackson Hole when I was visiting family) and this cream knit top, leopard boots (last year), and scarf from Target this year. I always have a hard time thinking of something to put with these pants but until my thrifting thankful challenge, never had I ever thought of putting them with pink! It’s such a pretty combination don’t you think?

Just to make sure I was warm just in case things turned cold (this was last Thursday-I plan my pictures in advance) I wore my tan coat snagged in September from Oldnavy for like $5 (I had some rewards) and I stayed really warm because it did start to rain/snow.

I am really enjoying my thrifting challenge. Some people might think it’s not a real thrifting challenge because I’m not buying things at a thrift store, but I think it’s thrifty because I’m shopping my closet! It’s such a challenge but yet it’s so fun! And it let’s me focus on being thankful for what I have while also being aware of others needs around me. Win/win!

So friends, the next time you think you need to shop…just look around the corner in your closet 🙂

Shopping my closet for Pink

Hello Friends!

I thought I would start out the week right by sharing a recent shopping trip to my own closet!

I have a pink pleated skirt (Asos) a pink sweater (H&M) both from last year and I love pink! I got some inspiration from my friend @trinagrand to wear all one color as a bold styling tip. I paired my skirt and sweater with some glittery earrings (Charming Charlies), a leopard scarf (Target), and my leopard pumps (Oldnavy). All these items are at least a year old but they look new when paired together!

Monochromatic pairings are very chic and trendy right now and get a special boost with the leopard accessories and sparkle. I think it also gives me a special boost in confidence by just wearing these bold colors!

I am thinking of wearing this ensemble to hubs Christmas party in the next couple weeks; it will be cold so I might add my faux fur leopard coat, won’t that be festive??

I hope these next weeks of posts inspire you to SHOP YOUR CLOSET too!

Follow up to Prime Wardrobe (review)

Hello friends! Happy Hump Day!

I thought I would follow up with a review of what I got from Prime Wardrobe (Amazon). It’s a new service with Amazon Prime that a person can pick up to 8 items in fashion (shoes, clothes, jewelry, bags, etc) in a certain section of Amazon, have them shipped for free to your home, try on the items, and decide what you love while shipping back for free what you do not like and not paying for the items you don’t want.

I tried it a few days ago. I ordered two pairs of sandals, (one white one pink), a Betsy Johnson bag, and a pair of Betsy Johnson earrings. My package was delivered Monday and I had fun opening up all the “gifts”! I love getting packages in the mail, it’s a thing.

So the shoes are amazing! I wore the pink sandals (Franco Sarto Wedge Sandal)yesterday. It’s a little bit of a wedge but not really high and the pink material feels like leather and is a hot pink. I love them and will probably find many things to match them 🙂

The white sandals (Rockport Women’s Briah-picture below with fresh toenails 😂) are also a wedge but strap behind my ankle and the white material is perforated so it looks like polka dots! I’ve been trying to find a white wedge but unsuccessful until this pair. They’re super comfy too and I’m wearing them today.

The Betsy Johnson bag is so cute, although a little spendy $100 and the (inside room) is about the size of a small protein bar so I couldn’t justify keeping it. It is darling though and a fish, so how cute!

The Betsy Johnson earrings are super cute, although different than what I expected and I returned these also.

The return is simple; the package comes with a self addressed stamped (UPC coded) sticker and the box has an adhesive strip. I just put my unwanted items in the box, sealed it with the strip, and stuck the addressed sticker on the box over my address sticker. I then dropped the box off at UPS and it is now on it’s way back to AMAZON. Easy peasy!

I hope you try Prime Wardrobe, it was fun and I like my shoes (I don’t get any reimbursement for this BTW, paid with my own dough). I just like to shop. 🙂
