I have discovered Apple Music. Or rather I’ve discovered all the music I’ve loved over the years and haven’t afforded to buy every single song.
(This isn’t an ad for Apple 🍎 btw)
I got an email from Apple letting me know I could try Apple Music out for 3 months for free. I thought it sounded like fun so I’m giving it a try.
I’ve been having so much fun!
Growing up in Wyoming, I didn’t often have much music to listen. My parents once had a Stevie Wonder 8 track tape and my favorite song was and is Superstition! But most of the time the radio didn’t get good stations- although I remember hearing “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress one night.
In the summer I could sometimes get a California station to come in clear but not til late at night.
One summer we took a trip to Arizona to see my grandmother and I loved the radio stations-I called and requested “Blinded by the Light” probably several hundred times a day.
My first husband worked at a record/music store for a period of time and gathered a huge collection of new and old music by the time he changed jobs. Obviously I didn’t get all the music in our divorce so now I’m trying to remember all the great artists I’ve loved over the years. Only my memory doesn’t work as well and there is one artist I can remember her music video but not the name of the song! It drives me crazy.
Imagine my delight to just click on hundreds of songs I love ❤️ I arrived at work last Friday super happy because I was listening to “Elemental” by Tears for Fears.
My only problem is-I’m not in my car long enough to listen to all of them!
You all know I love fast cars right?? (The other day at work someone showed up in a red Camaro and a couple people thought it mine-mine would be fluorescent green BTW! I just don’t know how I could go 80 on the freeway in a green Camaro? That would probably look like speeding tickets! Lol) but I digress!
I was at the freeway entrance next to a huge black truck; we’re both waiting to turn left to enter the freeway. He’s in left lane I’m in right lane. He (I assume a guy is driving souped up black truck) keeps inching forward to get in front of me (these are just my competitive car thoughts)….
The light turns green and I totally beat the big black truck! Adding to my enjoyment is the sun shining and sweet tunes (Believer by Imagine Dragons)in my sweet car (my baby is shiny, black, and fast). Hubs says I’m gonna get in trouble but I think not 😂
So on my hour and a half commute tonight, I decided I DON’T have enough Guns n Roses songs on my iPhone…LOL
That got me thinking and coincidentally I wore my GnR outfit today 🙂
I have ring tones for all my children…my oldest son Elliot-his ring tone is Back in Black -ACDC because it reminds me of when he was in high school and practice his electric guitar down in his room. I loved hearing him learn some tunes. It was especially fun when I knew the songs and got to start to sing along. I sang to Heart: Barracuda and G&R: Sweet Child o’ Mine. That brings back happy memories (Elliot is married, has kids of his own now, and enjoys other hobbies like destroying people in racquetball. Elliot’s favorite music seems to be alternative.
My oldest daughter Callie; her ring tone is G&R Sweet Child o’ Mine….for some reason it’s always made me think of her. I looked up the year of Guns n Roses album when that song was released and it was the year Callie was born, so I love this song for her (she’s kind of a rebel like me), and she has the prettiest eyes. Callie’s always been fond of country music, don’t know where she got that 😉
My son Connor has a wide range of music he likes, but when he was a teenager worked real hard to help me develop an “interest” in rap music. I just didn’t like it, but would listen with him in the car. He created a special CD for me, just certain rap songs he thought I would like, and actually I did. Connor’s ring tone is Tupac- Dear Mama.
McKenna is my youngest (I do have a younger son, Clayton; he died at birth so we haven’t had a chance to bond over music yet in this life and I don’t know if it will be important to me in the next, so there ya go) living child and she moved from favorite artist to favorite artist with Justin Bieber and David Archuleta near the beginning and Taylor Swift dominating almost all other areas, so Taylor Swift – We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together-puts a smile on my face.
So there you go, a description of my (adult) children’s ring tones and my thought process while driving home from work tonight in bumper to bumper traffic trying to find the best songs on my iPhone while not taking my eyes off the car in front of me…it was tricky my friends! In closing, Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City, and Sweet Child o’ Mine are my favorite Guns N Roses songs….here is my outfit letting everyone know.
