One Dress Several Ways

Hello friends and happy Monday eve! (Generally no one looks forward to Monday so I hope you hear my tongue in cheek tone!) 🤣

On Labor Day I snagged some sweet deals from Chicos at 50% off and I thought I would share one special vibrant pink dress!

It’s actually a magenta made of ponte knit. It has wonderful button details down the sleeves and it fits really well! Ponte is such a long wearing material which almost acts like a shaper itself. It’s such a great choice for this dress.

Today I wore it with my leopard heels (they’re old from Old Navy) When the weather cools down I’ll include my leopard cardigan also from Chicos.

It’s such a fun dress that I added another way to wear it! I bought a zebra print ruana (check out the pretty details) from Chicos too and added it to my dress while switched out my leopard heels for gray suede booties (these are also old- bought from Nordstrom Rack maybe three years ago).

I hope you like these different options for such a vibrant flattering dress! I really do like the magenta shade!

I’m An Animal (print lover)

Hello Friends and happy Monday!

I’m done venting about my travel fails and on this Monday back to fashion blogging LOL!

I’ve noticed a lot of different animal prints are on the runway, in magazines, and on the sidewalk lately. I’ve added to my animal print collection in a few different ways.

I discovered two fun new pieces from Target the last two weeks. The first one is a leopard print jumper! It’s such a great piece and I wore it with my white sneakers on my fated flight to North Carolina last week, but don’t hold that against this cute jumper. It’s easy on/easy off, has a little stretch to the material, and zips up the front. It’s a super cute addition to your wardrobe at a great price-$30 ordered online.

My next piece is a darling faux fur leopard bag with gold metal handles. I discovered it in a North Carolina Target- (on a trip for essentials, doesn’t that always happen when traveling??) and I can’t wait to use it. It would be so cute with a floral top/distressed jeans or a floral dress with fun heels. I even think it would be gorgeous with my yellow suit! I’ll take pictures of some examples and add them to this post.

Don’t be afraid of leopard. It’s one trend that has been steady for years and years. Get yourself some pieces and have fun!

Fall into Style

Hello friends!

I thought I would share a fun summer look that would transition easily to fall!

I found this rust colored eyelet top from Target and fell in Love immediately! It has a elastic neck and sleeves and is so comfy. It is eyelet but not see through as sometimes happens with this material.

I wore it with my Kut from the Kloth jeans, leopard slides from TJMaxx, and leopard backpack from ASOS and it’s super cute! I think this top would also be cute with any type of animal print pants or skirt. The eyelet really pops and is so fun!

When the weather cools down, I will add my leopard booties and a cream or black cardigan or possibly a denim jacket and it would be very fun while still keeping you warm!

I love items that can transition to the next season! It makes them so much more fun to wear and I end up wearing these items with several different things.

How to: Double Denim

Hello friends and happy almost Wednesday! (I love the week when it’s halfway through so maybe I’m jumping the gun) LOL!

Denim is a big trend now, so I thought I would share a way to wear denim that you might not have thought before.

This is a denim on denim look. Don’t be afraid to try this one, it’s very trendy but fun! I matched a denim jacket with denim jeans (both from OldNavy but the jeans -cropped flare raw edge-were on clearance for $8) along with a black tee (Madewell) and black (western style) fringe boots (Target). The way this outfit works is the wash of the jacket and jeans need to match quite closely- don’t use two different washes.

I also added a Betsy Johnson heart shaped leopard necklace and earrings and a pop of a leopard backpack and there you go! A classy but trendy look that any woman can rock!

Ways to Wear Red

Hello Friends and Happy Wednesday!

I’m always glad to make it to Wednesday because that means I’m halfway through my week and I know I can get through the remainder 🙂 I encourage myself by  viewing it this way LOL, I have to talk to myself like this, I bet other people do something similar.

Anyway, I’ve been wearing a lot of red lately but in different ways and I thought I would share several ways to wear red that are fun and new.

First: I paired my Express Camo leggings with a simple black T, my fun army green JCPenney cardigan complete with cool military type decals (only girly), added several necklaces for a tough girl vibe and topped it all off with my favorite red lip (Stila Long Lasting Liquid Lip Color in Fiery-my favorite BTW.

Second: I wore this fabulous pink/red sweater from Asos and some boyfriend jeans from Target, while adding this super cute heart print bag (also Target) and added white boots from Charlotte Russe. This is one of my favorite outfits, seriously the sweater fits so well and is flattering and I’ve got so many compliments on the sweater AND the freakin cute bag. I think I’ll keep both forever or until I’ve worn them out LOL

Third: I found an amazing shirt dress from H&M in snakeprint that I’ve worn three times already, and this time I paired it with my red Asos glossy boots and long red earrings. This dress is so bomb, I’ve worn it as a duster too…there are so many outfit combinations (but going back to red, it pairs really fun and pop with red)!

Fourth: You guys have seen this H&M sweater before, I’ve had it about a year but it goes with so many things! It’s a geometric print combining red/white/black and it’s amazing. I paired it with my perfect leopard coat and that super cute, super fun heart bag-both from Target along with some white earrings a friend gave me (also Target-SugarFix bauble bar) with black jeans and black cozy-faux fur loafers (also Target). This outfit is super fun while also giving me another chance to wear that amazing red liquid lipstick from Stila I mentioned earlier.

I hope you’ve enjoyed all these different ways I wear red and I hope it gives you ideas on how you can incorporate some of the color into your outfit choices too! If anyone needs any help in combining outfits or patterns or colors, please let me know! I am happy to help out!

U Can Wear Athleisure 2

Hello Friends and happy Thursday!

We are more than halfway through the week! Yay! Thursday is just one day from Friyay and I’ve found it’s easier to hype myself on Thursday than Monday. Thursday is my second favorite day of the work week LOL

I’ve been reading and seeing all about the athleisure look wondering if I could really wear it too, sometimes trends seem too young to give a go, but a couple weeks ago I was perusing the Macys clearance rack and discovered two awesome items: one is a Calvin Klein spin on leopard print with pinks and purples (it’s really not a challenge for me to get on board with any type of leopard and the second are black (thick weave) leggings with a silver sparkle strip down the outside of the legs (the sparkle and strip are totally me)! I was super excited to match these together (and I’ve wore the leggings with other things of course, they are so versatile). I added my pink Rocketdogs and a white purse and it looks so fun! You’d never know it’s really work out clothes (really we are so lucky that fashion now is so versatile. It’s cool to wear something in a different context, mix prints, mix styles, and wear bold colors together! It’s such a fun time in fashion!)

I hope this gives you inspiration to wear your own spin of athleisure throughout your week and not just while working out 🙂

Mixing Patterns How To

Hello friends and happy weekend!

It’s been a few days since I posted; I have no excuse for myself! Lol! (I will do better I promise)!

I thought I would share how I mix patterns!

Here I’m wearing a striped burgundy blouse and a leopard vest. Some people in the past might not think it matches but it anymore! You can match almost anything! It’s important to remember that some prints can be used as neutrals; leopard and camo print are such fun and you can match them with other fun prints!

So first: the background of my striped shirt is white-the backgrounders of my vest is white and that makes them perfect to match. I added my burgundy pants and white boots to go along with the blouse and vest.

Some leopard prints have a gold background and some have a black background so do a little experimenting with your prints.

I love to match leopard with green, pink, red, burgundy, and black patterns of solids. Pops of color will really add to your wardrobe!

I also love camo print and it goes so well with red, pink, black, tan, forest green, and brown (all of these could be a print -I love pink prints with camo-it’s darling).

Florals, plaids, and stripes are all fun prints to combine as long as you stick to similar shades. Don’t be afraid to try something yourself.

2019 Doesn’t Like Me

Happy New Year friends! Seriously this is what I thought last week! (I have this thing against odd numbers!) but seriously I experienced some unexpected difficulties at work which hijacked my whole week of blogging and life as a hopeful-positive person. Life is hard sometimes but then I just have to keep going right??

So I thought instead of focusing on the negative parts of my week, I would share another closet shopping trip!

It started out as a cold day! Which should have clued me into the negative storm heading my way, but I digress…..

So I wanted to wear some warm leggings (sequin leggings from Express last year are what I decided on😂) YES Then I paired them with a thermal black shirt (tip for dressing warm) and a leopard dress from ASOS last year. I added my leather looking sneaks and my (actually this is new) deep green leather like moto jacket with faux fur collar from Express (at least it was 50% off) and a cute appliqué bag I snagged from Charming Charlie’s a couple years ago.

I stayed warm, I wore a flippin cute dress, and if you looked close- you could see sequins peeking out as I went about my work day. That’s almost enough to balance out a bad work week right??

YES

Grateful Streak Continues…..

Hello Friends!

If you’re new to reading my blog, I’ve dedicated my last three or so weeks to shopping my closet instead of new wardrobe items to focus on gratitude before Christmas.

Today I’m sharing several things: First I had a somewhat lengthy and irritating debate with a client yesterday (he might not be willing or open to change) which can be normal in my field….yet….I have all these resources, education, training, and support which could help my client and it is super frustrating if someone is in front of this wonderful buffet and not willing to eat. GRRR that ticks me off, especially when I care about a client.  So yesterday after the lengthy, complicated, and challenging debate, I thought to myself….I wouldn’t be the therapist I am today without my challenging teenagers from the past. Boy we had our challenges and honestly there really is not a name a client can call me that I think (pbsttt, I’ve heard worse!) Which is actually really helpful as a therapist. I’ve had experiences with my own children that at times mimic what my clients or their parents struggle and it’s helped me a great deal.

So I called my daughter last night and said thank you for doing what you did as a teenager and being the smart a$$ she still is, she said “Your welcome” LOL, we had a good laugh but all seriousness, all these experiences I’ve had…some terrible, some painful, some difficult, some so daunting…have all benefitted me personally and as a therapist. For that I am truly thankful.

I’m also thankful that yesterday hubs and I purchased him a new car (it’s actually used, but you know what I mean). I’ve never seen him so happy (his old car has 250,000 miles, so many things don’t work anymore). I’m so thankful that together, we can get him a car to make him happy and make his work life and commute more enjoyable and dependable. How blessed am I???

Now for my regularly scheduled fashion gratitude post:

I’ve had most of these items some time: my black long sleeve shirt from Costco, beaded jacket and layered necklace from Chicos, gray jeans from Express, and leopard boots and faux fur coat from Target. I never thought about pairing the typical way I wear this jacket along with the leopard, but the leopard just makes everything pop in a new way! The different textures between faux fur, embroidered/embellished jacket, and layered necklaces is so luxe. Seriously I’ve had this jacket and layered necklace for at least five years, I’m guessing. How fun is it to wear anew??

CLOSET SHOPPING IS DEFINITELY PAYING OFF RIGHT???!

Inspiration Outfit

Hello Friends and happy Monday!

I normally don’t like Mondays, I mean they come every week and I really should make peace with them but ew, I would just rather not have Monday part of my lineup. I know that’s unreasonable and that would mean Tuesday would be the same as Monday now is, but honestly it’s not a rational feeling I have about Monday. I’m sorry I just can’t let it go LOL (I really like the weekend to be honest-don’t we all?)

Anyway, I’m doing more CLOSET SHOPPING!! YAY!

This week I have some inspiration from a fellow IG fashion boss babe @oysterstopearls- Shannon, some time ago wore this gorgeous blue cardigan and I was in love! I looked up on LTK and she did not link the cardigan (it was lovely, trust me)….

And then I realized DUH I have a frosty blue cardigan (duster actually) that I don’t wear often enough and it’s so pretty and velvety and soft (all the reasons I gave hubs when I bought it at Nordstrom Rack last year (or year before?). And I got so excited to wear it in a new way! This is the fun of closet shopping! It’s as if I’m wearing new clothes when I wear something I haven’t wore for awhile, plus it’s very economical! 😉

So I paired my duster with a black long sleeve top, black leggings, my two year old OTK Macy’s black boots, a black and silver choker (it’s from Chicos- one of my older items-it’s a four piece necklace set. You can wear the choker with three other strands or wear each on it’s own, so fun) and I added my leopard bag for that ooh baby pop!

All of these items are older in my closet yet fun and trendy and I’ve got lots of compliments today. Try out shopping your closet, you will not regret!
