Ma’am Do You Know How Fast You Were Going?

So I was driving to Jackson Hole, my son was in the car, and we had fallen behind the family wagon train (so to speak). We got to a section of the road that is two lanes. My son said “pass em” to the two slow cars in front of us. So I did.

My husband calls my car a rocketship. The rocketship accelerates pretty quickly and soon I was ahead of the two cars-but then heading towards us in the other lane was a state trooper. I immediately knew I was busted-he flipped around quickly and turned on his lights.

“Connor! It’s all your fault” and slapped my sons leg as he is laughing hysterically (almost the whole time).

I pulled off the road before the trooper even got to me because yeah it’s obvious he’s coming for me.

He walked up to the car “ma’am do you know how fast you were going”? I said I thought it was about 80. He replied “thanks for being honest, I clocked you at 74”. “Do you know the speed limit on this road”- and I honestly didn’t. It had been maybe three years since I was on that particular highway. “It’s 55”-yikes

I told him it was my son’s fault-that he told me to pass the cars-while my son is still laughing.

He asked for my license and Ins and registration. I knew I had my gun in my jockey box (I drove to Wyoming by myself and won’t be one of those women out in the middle of nowhere unable to defend herself) so I was trying to get my license and concealed carry permit out quickly because my son was also opening the jockey box and I knew my gun would slide out!

It didn’t seem appropriate to yell “don’t open the jockey box! My gun is in there” to my son, so I quickly said “I have a weapon” as I handed the trooper my license and concealed carry card luckily before the gun rolled out. (I also couldn’t remember the wording a person is supposed to use when letting an officer know you have a weapon. I was a little anxious. My first stop since getting my gun.

Luckily he didn’t feel threatened and thanked me for letting him know. Asked if it was loaded and I said no, it just has a clip in but… couldn’t remember what it’s called and he finished my sentence-“doesn’t have one in the chamber” and I said no.

He went back to his car to decide my fate. I was just thankful I wasn’t going to jail for saying “I have a weapon”!

Connor is still laughing his head off and I start laughing too. He didn’t know my gun was in the jockey box and we thought of all the problems it could cause just rolling out as the officer is standing there.

The officer returns and says “I’m doing you a big favor, you aren’t getting a ticket but you’ve got to slow down”. I asked him if he could make my son stop laughing and he said he couldn’t do anything about that unfortunately. He told me to avoid caving into peer pressure 😂 and wished me a good day.

Peer pressure🤨😂

Thrifting to be Thankful

Hello Friends!

Wow I hope everyone is staying warm! We had a huge snowstorm last night into today and there is about 8 inches of wet cold snow out there. Be safe too!

I’m continuing my thankful thrifting/shopping my closet today! This will be a regular feature until after Christmas. I hope you enjoy 🙂

Today I’m sharing a pink/gold/cream ensemble from last year and earlier this year. I snagged these gorgeous gold pull on pants from TJMaxx in July (In Jackson Hole when I was visiting family) and this cream knit top, leopard boots (last year), and scarf from Target this year. I always have a hard time thinking of something to put with these pants but until my thrifting thankful challenge, never had I ever thought of putting them with pink! It’s such a pretty combination don’t you think?

Just to make sure I was warm just in case things turned cold (this was last Thursday-I plan my pictures in advance) I wore my tan coat snagged in September from Oldnavy for like $5 (I had some rewards) and I stayed really warm because it did start to rain/snow.

I am really enjoying my thrifting challenge. Some people might think it’s not a real thrifting challenge because I’m not buying things at a thrift store, but I think it’s thrifty because I’m shopping my closet! It’s such a challenge but yet it’s so fun! And it let’s me focus on being thankful for what I have while also being aware of others needs around me. Win/win!

So friends, the next time you think you need to shop…just look around the corner in your closet 🙂

Wish List

Hey friends!

How are you all on this fine Wednesday? I hope everyone is well and happy 🙂

I thought I would share a little bit of my fun trip to Wyoming last weekend! I left on Thursday and returned Sunday.

Thursday I had some fun in the thriving metropolis of Thayne Wyoming (actually it’s a small town) but my aunt runs a food truck by a local motel (owned by a family member) and we sat and ate the best burgers ever, followed by fun conversation with my parents and aunt and uncle.

The next day I drove up to Afton (about 20 minutes away) to visit with my grandfather (who this year will be 97)! and my two aunts were also there visiting for the Lincoln County Fair! Later that afternoon we visited the fair and watched the Swift Idol (sort of like American Idol but small scale) of local voices under a big tent. That was enjoyable although hot hot hot 🙂 Afterwards enjoyed a rodeo! Yee haw!

Then Saturday my mother and I drove up to Jackson Hole (yes the same-just about 40 minutes from where I grew up) and puttered around town-we ate lunch at Wort Bar and Motel- saw a famous person (actually two older gentlemen approached our table with a pick up line-that was funny). We stopped at a regular store-TJMaxx where I found a gorgeous embroidered maxi dress by Free People which is to die for! Smoking deal too!

Then we visited some less than affordable shops around downtown Jackson Hole LOL. I tried on a gorgeous cowboy hat with jewels around the brim, it was so pretty but $400….yes that’s how much it was dang it. Hubby said I could buy it if we sold both our cars! LOL!

We drove back home later and attended another rodeo…I can’t believe I’ve seen three rodeo’s this summer! How much more fun is that?? It’s been a great summer ya’ll.

I’m sharing the pictures of the dress and a cute video of the super expensive hat I DID NOT PURCHASE LOL! I was explaining the hat to a co worker and she asked “Did you seriously buy the hat?? You are all about deals”! And I realized, she is right! I don’t like to spend loads of money, I like to get deals on stuff. That was a good reminder to be an affordable shopper.
