The Color of the Year

Hello friends and Happy Wednesday!

Today I’m sharing the color of the year- Pantone color of the year 2019-Living Coral ๐Ÿ™‚

This is an amazing color that I’m already having fun with. I originally bought a cardigan (a few years ago-it’s had it’s day unfortunately) but I found this cute light weight long sleeve top from Walmart (it ties on the side) and is so soft and lays in a really flattering way. I thought I would share my first pairing of this fun color!

I bought this embroidered jean jacket from Macys several years ago, the pants from Chicos last year, and the boots from Express last winter but I paired it with this bright bold hue because I am eager for spring! The pictures don’t look like spring is on it’s way any time soon but I love this color and it’s so flattering on those with my facial tones or darker hair. There are many variations of this color to match your own tones, so don’t be afraid to get out there and discover something new in this color family!

More Closet Shopping!

Hello friends!

How are you all today? I hope you are staying warm! It was 16 degrees here yesterday! Brrrrrrrrโ€ฆ..

I discovered more ways to shop my closet-actually close to the same outfit but for two events. One is a Sunday outfit and the other I wore to work.

Sunday I wore my blue/cream striped shirt from Oldnavy, my lavender cardigan from Target, a black patterned skirt from Macy’s, and OTK boots also from Macys. I added a purple necklace from Chicos. The OTK boots kept me warm at church and I think it’s a fun look from my closet.

The very next day (yes I wear the same clothes twice in a row! LOL Sometimes it’s just too fun to change!) I wore my blue striped top again, my lavender cardigan, but added a blue/purple patterned scarf from Target, destroyed girlfriend jeans from Express, and my snakeprint boots from Target. AND I couldn’t resist wearing purple lipstick!

I had so much fun with the basic shirt and cardigan! Blue and purple are such fun color pairs! It’s important to remember art class when creating outfits. Purple is a combination of blue and red, so blue and purple will always compliment each other! Plus purple is my favorite color….you might notice that from my logo ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you enjoyed another installment of shopping my closet! Stay tuned for more and Happy Hump Day friends!

The Trendy Duster

Hello friends and happy Wednesday! (Congratulations for making it halfway through the work week!) ๐Ÿ˜‚ #reallifeproblems am I right??

Today I’m sharing a super trendy (youthful) look that women my age can totally rock!

I discovered dusters last winter and again this summer and I love how they transform any outfit!

This summer I wore a silky one with shorts and a t shirt (pic below-Express on clearance!

Yesterday I wore a long plaid duster (also Express-on sale and with a reward) with black jeans, black tee, and black tennies- it’s so fun and kind of flowy which I love. It’s a fall pattern but if I were somewhere with warmer temps- I would pair it with some destroyed shorts and black biker boots and that vibe would be so Bad A$$ (excuse my language)!

I can imagine adding a my black motto jacket as the weather gets colder here for added attitude and warmth (hey I’m always open to add attitude to my clothes, it’s called fun!)

I hope you enjoy these ideas for fun dusters with attitude!

Fashion for Fall

Hello friends! And happy Wednesday! Sometimes I get overwhelmed on Monday (it seems a lot to get three groups accomplished between Monday-Tuesday) but this week I had more energy and not so overwhelmed. It might be I’m having a Cabi party on Thursday and Saturday traveling to St George Utah to see “Thriller” at Tuacahn Amphitheater. So yeah I’m super excited this week!

But I wanted to share one secret of dressing for fall and I promised to share my super affordable coat from OldNavy ($10).

My friend ANNE (!) found this amazing jumper on clearance ($7) at Target but unfortunately (for her) it didn’t fit and she passed it on to me. It fits me perfect and I used a strip of leather as a belt along with a nude t shirt and cognac heels (these cheap from OldNavy too).

Now it’s been super cold in the morning but warmer later in the afternoon so this morning I’ll be wearing my gorgeous new taupe (cheap) trench type jacket from OldNavy and the taupe really pops with the jumper underneath. It’s such a fun combination.

I hope this idea helps you think of ways you can also dress for fall (cold in morning and warm afternoons)! It doesn’t have to be so hard โค๏ธ plus you can do it very affordably!

Hat Smackdown

Hello friends!

Happy Wednesday! Our week is halfway through (halfway, halfway, ya got me halfway?? -who knows this movie reference? It’s one of my favs!)

Anywho…I want to share some of my distress over buying hats! Yes hats! I absolutely love hats but have always had some struggle finding one that fit.

This story starts a couple years ago when my oldest son bought a motorcycle. He dropped by the house to show it and his cool gear off. He related how he had to buy the biggest helmet made and tried to squish my head into it (this was my first indication of trouble) -THE THING WOULD NOT FIT and actually felt like my skull was cracking. My son stepped back in awe and said “that’s where I got it”- skull size LOL

So fast forward to this week, I found a lovely burgundy hat with black bow around the shaft. It is the cutest hat (found at Target of course) and the darn thing does not fit! WTH my head is really one of those things that I absolutely cannot change. I can change the color of my hair, my makeup, my clothes, and I can exercise to feel more healthy but I cannot change the size of my head. Beanies usually fit because they stretch but it’s hard to find a structured hat that doesn’t squish my brain and give me a headache…so sad.

To further complicate matters, I took out a measuring tape-this is never a good idea, do not do this at home (a soft sewing one) and measured my noggin. My head is 23 inches…..WTH again?? I googled a normal size head for a woman and it is 21 3/4 inches; normal size for a man’s head is 22 3/4 inches….seriously what happened? I mean this is the kind of thing you can only laugh at! No wonder I’ve always had a hard time finding a hat to wear, the things are three inches too small! Like I’m gonna get a special made hat….OS fits all! NOT??!

I’m feeling a little plus size head discrimination going on! Who’s with me??! Spread the word! LOL (my sad face below)

Couch Potato Plan

Hello friends!

How are you all this wonderful Wednesday?? I’m so glad the week is half over. I’m telling you my training was tough tough tough. It’s the most difficult thing I’ve done for years!

We spent the whole training in silence which was not as difficult as spending (25) 25 minute meditation-which means I sat on a chair with a straight posture, my feet flat on the floor and my hands resting on my knees without moving. (Some people sat on cushions with their legs crossed but baby my knees are at a age that I cannot sit cross legged anymore LOL) So I sat on a chair. It was so hard! But I made it through and am very proud of myself.

We did this training on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound outside of Seattle Washington and oh my gosh it’s such a pretty area. The smells of the forest around us was AMAZING! I couldn’t figure out what smelled so good until a co worker, born and raised in Washington told me it was the redwood trees, cedar smell. Friends, I’ve never been so in love with trees before. OH MY GOSH it was so beautiful, so that helped to balance out the HARD.

But last night as I got home from work, I had no desire to do anything but lay on the couch, (I was so tired) cue up my new Jurassic World movie and eat Thai food. That was my couch potato plan and I enjoyed it!

Enjoy the pictures I’m adding of the area around The Whidbey Institute. It’s a gorgeous place. I’m also adding pictures of the cabin we stayed.

Follow up to Prime Wardrobe (review)

Hello friends! Happy Hump Day!

I thought I would follow up with a review of what I got from Prime Wardrobe (Amazon). It’s a new service with Amazon Prime that a person can pick up to 8 items in fashion (shoes, clothes, jewelry, bags, etc) in a certain section of Amazon, have them shipped for free to your home, try on the items, and decide what you love while shipping back for free what you do not like and not paying for the items you don’t want.

I tried it a few days ago. I ordered two pairs of sandals, (one white one pink), a Betsy Johnson bag, and a pair of Betsy Johnson earrings. My package was delivered Monday and I had fun opening up all the “gifts”! I love getting packages in the mail, it’s a thing.

So the shoes are amazing! I wore the pink sandals (Franco Sarto Wedge Sandal)yesterday. It’s a little bit of a wedge but not really high and the pink material feels like leather and is a hot pink. I love them and will probably find many things to match them ๐Ÿ™‚

The white sandals (Rockport Women’s Briah-picture below with fresh toenails ๐Ÿ˜‚) are also a wedge but strap behind my ankle and the white material is perforated so it looks like polka dots! I’ve been trying to find a white wedge but unsuccessful until this pair. They’re super comfy too and I’m wearing them today.

The Betsy Johnson bag is so cute, although a little spendy $100 and the (inside room) is about the size of a small protein bar so I couldn’t justify keeping it. It is darling though and a fish, so how cute!

The Betsy Johnson earrings are super cute, although different than what I expected and I returned these also.

The return is simple; the package comes with a self addressed stamped (UPC coded) sticker and the box has an adhesive strip. I just put my unwanted items in the box, sealed it with the strip, and stuck the addressed sticker on the box over my address sticker. I then dropped the box off at UPS and it is now on it’s way back to AMAZON. Easy peasy!

I hope you try Prime Wardrobe, it was fun and I like my shoes (I don’t get any reimbursement for this BTW, paid with my own dough). I just like to shop. ๐Ÿ™‚

Wipeout Wednesday

Hello friends!

I think today is the most difficult Wednesday I’ve had all year.

You know I’m a therapist right? So it seems like today 75% of my clients were in distress, which means a high level of distress for me. If a couple of my clients are distressed, I can usually manage without difficulty. When three or four of my clients are in distress, it’s a little overwhelming but wow today everything was going wrong and it was difficult!

I imagined it would be more helpful if I walked around with a fire extinguisher and Whoosh! Every time someone started to talk to me…Tracie…Whoosh! Tracie can you Whoosh!ย  Tracie I ….Whoosh! All the fires out, I’ve put out all the fires and no one is stressed…everyone is cooled down ๐Ÿ˜‰ Firefighting 101 right? Put out all fires…maybe I need several extinguishers?

Regardless, I still like to dress up fun even if I think I’m going bonkers! Here is my cute outfit today (found this darling skirt and sweatshirt at H&M) ; I took my selfies before work when it’s 30 degrees outside and my toes start getting numb (I got a pedicure last night and wore sandals cause my toe nails are super cute) and my fingers are cold but after work it’s 48 degrees, the sun is shining and I can think about something else for a few minutes. (Someone did point out today that my laptop matches my clothes…SCORE!)

and yes my screen saver is a black Camaro

It’s all perspective-what is the truth?

Hello friends!

Happy Wednesday! I hope all of your weeks are going well so far ๐Ÿ™‚ The only thing I don’t like about my week is the snow but I mean it is still winter technically so it will snow LOL!

I think all of you know that I’m a therapist right? Well every Tuesday I run a eating disorder/body image group here at work. Yesterday we watched a short video created by Dove that I love. It’s on YouTube and I will post a link here.

The idea of the video is that several women are asked to describe themselves to a FBI sketch artist (he doesn’t actually ever see them, he is behind a curtain facing away from them) and he sketches them based on their description of themselves; he then sketches another view of them from a stranger that has spent (15 minutes?) talking to them. Watch the video, it’s amazing!

We spent time in group discussing how our own perspective of ourselves is distorted and I think this happens with every day people. I had a co worker remark to me yesterday, “That’s such a cute outfit, you always dress so cute. I don’t think I could ever dress like that” (or something similar, maybe I don’t remember her exact words) and I disagree. I think we sometimes get too worried about what other people will think (based on our own distorted perspective). Case in point: One day I wore two prints (it was last summer and I just jumped on the mixing prints trend) and I previously planned to wear two coordinated prints but one day I wore a different bottom with the printed top (they didn’t actually match) but I didn’t realize it until I got my pajamas on that night. It was odd when I realized I had been all day without matching…no one said anything and I didn’t realize the patterns were off…SO DOES IT REALLY MATTER IF I DON’T CARE?? This is my question….if you don’t worry about it, does it matter? I think we can apply this to any area.

Does anyone notice the back of my hair where two curls leave a gap? Does anyone notice the zit I covered on my face? Does anyone notice if my hair isn’t washed today? Does anyone notice that I think I’ve gained weight? Does anyone notice what size I wear? Does anyone notice I haven’t exercised for days? Does anyone notice I didn’t shower today?Does anyone care about my age or wrinkles? Does anyone notice my eyebrows aren’t the same? Does anyone notice I have a big head and most hats don’t fit my head? (No one notices, no one cares)

I challenge each of you to wear something you didn’t think you could, to be yourself, to speak up, to challenge the thoughts you have about yourself and be more gentle ๐Ÿ™‚ Watch the video and change your perspective!

Hump Day Blues

Hello Friends!

Thank goodness it’s Wednesday, although I have to actually make it through the whole day before I really can say thank goodness LOL!

Last night I went out with a couple of good friends (H & A) team and we went to “Pitch Perfect 3” which actually was funny and fun to see, although the movie started at 8 pm, so our fun ended around 11:30pm which meant I washed my face and finally got in bed at midnight….that’s a little late for me! I also drank a whole water bottle during the movie so woke up at 3am for a nature call and then got up at 6am because I had a doctor appointment at 830 in Salt Lake…..so I’m a wittle ty ty….trying to drag myself through the day until I can go home and close my eyes for a few hours… (that’s what I tell myself, it might not actually be a thing)!

But I did get myself ready without forgetting some important things! Actually I forgot to put on toner and forgot my deep burgundy lipstick, but normally when I’m super tired I forget bigger stuff; for example one time I forgot my contacts…all ofย a sudden I realized I coudn’t see (when I’m driving) and then I realized what I did! Ha ha or I one time I forgot to put my eyebrowsย and mascara and then I’m really in trouble! ( I really do know these are first world problems) LOL This is just my life ๐Ÿ˜‰ But I had already planned what to wear today, so I didn’t have to think TOO much when I got dressed (that’s a good thing, cause who knew what might have happened!) I wore one of my favorite military style jackets (JCPenney, Libby Edelman) with a floral (JCPenney knit shirt) my pixie burgundy pants (Old Navy) and studded boots by (Shoedazzle) so it looks like I’m put together but no one would know I’m actually not all there…unless you have an extended conversation with me.

So considering I’m running on half normal cylinders than usual, I think I’m functioning pretty well. At the end of the day, I’ll take stock again and see if that’s actually true!
