Terrific (Mixing and/or Patterns) Tuesday

Hello Friends!

How is everyone doing this week? I have to say I’m enjoying the (sometimes) sunshine I get every once in a while! It’s better than nothing right? I liked it so much I drove through a car wash and when I got home, I rubbed down the inside of my car with armor all (sp?) and leather cleaning wipes! (Now my butt slips when I get in, but my life isn’t in too much danger right??) Sometimes, well just a couple times, I have got in my car and accidentally mashed my knee against the steering column!! Seriously painful and (I had a black and blue bump on my leg) when my husband asked, I really don’t have any idea how that happens. I’ve done it a few times to be honest, I’m pretty sure the column stays put. Anyway….my car is clean šŸ™‚ yay! I don’t like driving a dirty car, I might have some OCD tendencies….LOL

I frequently have the desire to change up my outfit game! I don’t like wearing the same thing over again, but it’s not reasonable to NEVER wear the same clothes. I just don’t have the budget for that. What I do like to do is wear things differently or mash up items I haven’t before. I think that is super fun!

The last couple days I’ve done just that!

Yesterday I wanted to wear my sequin leggings (Express) again but let’s face it, it’s not December or New Years Eve…I want to keep wearing my sequined items or sparkle even when the holidays are over! I want what I want šŸ˜‰

So I paired my leggings with a simple black T, my black/white patterned converse, and a terribly fun distressed jean jacket (Forever 21). I figureĀ  that the converse and distressed jacket balance out the bling of the leggings so it looks like something anyone would wear! I enclose pics of course!

Then today I just want spring to be here so bad and really wanted to wear my lilac cardigan (Target-ANewDay-spring color but with warmth for Utah’s spring weather, haha) and tried something really new for me. I paired it with my ruffled, blue (almost periwinkle) striped blouse (Target, WhoWhatWear) with my embroidered jeans (Express) and white boots. I figure that lavender/purple is made by mixing blue and red which makes sense the blue in jeans, blue in shirt, and red on flowers on jeans….interesting that all these items work so well together! Also the ruffle on the shirt sticks out of the cardigan making it attention getting (and is sort of like a flower blooming) which is fun and seems like spring!

Let me know what you think of my combinations and have a great day! I hope it’s spring where you’re at!

Is it the Christmas Rush? Anyone stressed??

Oh my goodness friends! I have to share my funny husband this morning…So he gets a little stressed when I schedule up our day, especially on Saturdays. But this Saturday is special right?? It’s the day before Christmas Eve, technically the last shopping day for us because tomorrow is Sunday and I don’t shop on Sunday.

So he wanted to do a couple things today: he wanted to go to the mall :/ I knew he would have a difficult time cause of the day and season (he said he wanted to get me a surprise because a few days ago I kind of explained it’s more fun to have a surprise present instead of knowing everything I’m getting for Christmas…let’s be honest I’M THE ONE THAT PICKED IT ALL OUT LOL) So he headed out to get me a surprise…this doesn’t end well you know that right?? šŸ˜‰

He just got back from the store and is freaking mad! (I warned him to eat breakfast before he left, but did he listen to me…nooooo). Apparently there were some people cutting him off in traffic which might be normal today as there is still a lot of construction on one of our major highways and a ton of people on the road. The only saving grace is there is no snow yet. He came home and is telling me about his excursion and his voice is raising and his face is turning red….and I just start laughing uncontrollably cause he is FREAKING OUT! and I knew he should’ve ate! While laughing I tell him to please eat before he has a stroke…

So be safe out there friends! It’s Christmas Eve eveĀ and many people are shopping at the last minute, which might be that they didn’t have enough money before or whatever reason. Let’s be kind to each other and keep the spirit of Christmas no matter our situation.

And let us not forget, I have a holiday outfit today to match the movie Jumanji! We are going to Jumanji tonight and I wanted to have fun with the jungle theme! IĀ paired my Express sequin leggings to a OldNavy camo jacket and have fun that way because I’m not a party girl but show others you can wear sequins at any time and make it fun!

Holiday Every Day

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone is making it through their Monday! My weather here is just gorgeous (Utah)! It’s pretty crisp (30 degrees)Ā in the morning but the skies are clear and afternoon warms up a bit (supposed to be 63 today). I think that’s near perfect weather; cold enough for sweaters and a jacket but not using the AC. Yep perfect weather, I love this time of year.

Another thing I love is the holiday wear type of clothing that’s in all the stores now. Gearing up for (someone) to go to some type of holiday party in (pants, dress, or shirt/skirt) that sparkly or has some kind of flair.

I’m just your average normal person. I work five days a week; most Saturdays are spent cleaning the house, doing laundry, picking up groceries for next week or yard work. I don’t go to a whole lot of BIG EVENTS. Last weekend we went to a Veterans Day concert with our good friends DJ and Becky Gibb and that really was very nice. The orchestra/band was amazing, the Utah National Guard 23rd Army Band and Granite School District High School Choirs. It was an amazing program and I thought that was a good excuse to dress up. Normally I go out to movies with my husband or we go out to dinner withĀ our adultĀ children andĀ our grandchildren. Every once in a while we’ll do something fancy but not often. So I’m always looking to dress up for little things.

I love holiday wear (but I wear it for every day). Take today for example: I found some black stretch type pants (side zip) with an embossed type of sparkly design and I’m wearing these with my black/tan striped sweater, black booties, and tan/fur leather jacket (I got at Express about 15 years ago, still adore it and it’s amazing). I really think combining these items is unique, unexpected, and fun!

I think anyone can take a holiday item (one I’m identifying as having lots of sparkle, velvet, you know a fancy type of look) and pairing it with an everyday item like my basic sweater and I think it makes it really fun fashion with flair!

I also have a pair of velvet black pants I got on clearance after the holidays last year and I wear them with a black/white striped long sleeve shirt, my jean jacket, and my sparkly crystal necklace.

Another fun outfit is my black sequin top (got on clearance at Deb before it closed for like $2?) with my black jogging pants (unexpected right?), my burgundy cardigan, and black heels when I’m just going out to dinner. It’s fun and festive and I don’t have to be going to an EVENT.

I don’t think you have to attend an event to wear something sparkly and fancy. I love to make the everyday, especially Mondays sparkly and fun! If you have a fancy for some fun holiday wear but are like me and a normal human being, wear your holiday wear for every day! I know it makes my everyday less ordinary!Women’s Textured Skinny Pants
