Hello friends and happy New Year’s Eve! Here is an easy and festive eyeshadow look for your fun tonight using Anastasia Norvina palette.
I’ve recovered from thanksgiving (I wasn’t planning on needing to recover so it took a whole day) and I thought I would share 😉
I decided previous to thanksgiving that I’ve baked for enough years that I would like to relax a bit. So I did some searching online and found a local store (Smiths or Kroger- yes I’m throwing them under the bus) that offered a full thanksgiving meal: large turkey with all the fixings for $80 which is less than we normally spend on a big family meal like this.
I ordered our meal to be picked up on thanksgiving day at 11am and the website said I would only need to reheat the food. Sounded good to me.
So yesterday morning as I was having the most relaxing thanksgiving on record, hubs went to pick up the food. He returned about 30 minutes later: “I don’t think this is what you had in mind” are the first words out of his mouth. I had a positive attitude and unwrapped his boxes which included a cold bloody turkey, fresh green beans, cartons of cream, pats of butter, a loaf of bread (A LOAF OF BREAD???- if you’ve ever done any baking before- you KNOW a person does not make stuffing with a fresh loaf of bread without some serious time and effort!) sliced mushrooms, onions, sealed packages of potatoes, sealed packages of sautéed vegetables, and thankfully there was a cooked pumpkin pie and a package of fresh rolls. These are accompanied by recipe cards!! Whaaaaaat?? (Actually the stuffing ingredients did NOT have a recipe- WTF!)
I have 15 people coming over for dinner at 1 and a freakin cold turkey and several entrees that need to actually be prepared! Friends I almost popped a gasket! Not to mention cooking a dinner at the last minute and a kitchen full of dishes/pans with everything cooking as I have guests/family and everyone hungry. (This is not my usual manner of a big fancy important dinner-traditionally 😂)
So it takes 3 hours to heat up the bird and we have hungry children- as we’re cooking we are also popping frozen pizzas in the other oven- which is crazy cause in only an hour the dinner is done but everyone’s already ate frozen pizza so don’t have a big appetite for a huge turkey dinner. You can imagine my distress? The website I ordered from never suggested “hours” or “recipes” or “time to prepare dishes before serving”😂🤣 this is the craziest thanksgiving I have ever ever ever experienced.
Hopefully it never happens again. But I was reminded-no one in my family likes turkey! Is it really the holidays without a bit of drama and comedy??
I am just sitting down after a great dinner celebrating my daughter in law’s birthday.
We made a enchilada casserole and bought chips and salsa from our favorite restaurant.
(On the Home front our smart tv died and that is the biggest blessing this holiday!) 😆
We spent the whole evening talking and playing games (drinking a lot of Coke apparently 😂) and watching the grandchildren play with each other and the slime we got from Costco(they get along so well and have since they were way littles) they say the funniest things and I love to be around my family.
Three members weren’t here tonight and we missed them but we all get a chance again on Thursday (Thanksgiving)! Now normally I don’t much like Thanksgiving because I’m tired of cooking for days and doing dishes for hours (I would rather chat and play with my family) so this year we ordered our dinner (pick up Thursday around 11am) and the TV is dead!
That means prime time play time with family! We have games and crafts (with some treats) planned for all day and I can’t be more excited! Time with my family- that’s what I’m grateful this holiday. (That and our dead TV!) SCORE!
Who’d thought it!!?
How was your Memorial Day weekend?? I hope you had a wonderful time!
I had a good day on Saturday and Sunday, even Monday was technically good but unexpected.
Saturday hubs and I went zip lining down Provo Canyon which was an amazing experience. We went with Provo Canyon adventures and went on five zip lines (did the first one twice) just to get the hang of things. It was a beautiful day and we had great time. I tried to spin a couple of times and almost ended up coming into one platform backwards which kind of freaked me out, but it all ended well. Afterwards we drove into Heber City and dined at Granny’s Drive In which was soooo good. I might have been really hungry but it was very good LOL!
Sunday was kind of laid back; we went to church and then some of our children came to visit. We then took a trip to the cemetery to visit the grave of my youngest son, he would be 20 in October of this year. It was a somber visit but we talked about him and how old he would be and how my daughter probably wouldn’t be as spoiled because she wouldn’t have been the youngest. It was nice despite the situation.
Then yesterday started out wonderful; I woke early and got ready for a morning bike ride. I rode down Provo River Trail to the lake and around the trail on the east side of the lake. I then decided to ride up to the University Parkway underpass because last year it was closed due to the road construction and I wanted to see if it had been completed. Amazing, it is completed and if I wanted, I could go farther but I already had gone about five miles so I turned around and headed home. On the way I crossed a wood bridge with a sharp 90 degree turn off the bridge with a fence on one side and a drop off to the river on the other. A young woman and her son were at the turn (stopped) with his little bike/training wheels; I didn’t want to run them over and almost stopped, but they completely blocked the trail and I fell off the edge, flipped over my bike and fell down into the weeds and rocks. It really hurt, no lie- my right knee is scraped pretty bad, I pulled the hamstring in my left leg and I managed to smash my face into my handle bars. It was no fun and I had to ride my bike all the way back home with my hurt knees (waaaaaa) I spent most of the day icing my knee although I’m still sore today and a little annoyed that some people on the trail do not know the rules of the “road” so to speak.
Later in the day all the (adult) children came over and we had a BBQ which made the rest of my day fun! I sure love spending time with all the kids and grandkids!
Ups and downs for the holiday weekend but I think this is life and normal. Usually the positive outweighs the negative in my experience.
Thanks for reading friends and enjoy your four day work week!
So I’m at work but it’s that weird time of year …I saw a post on IG that perfectly explained my dilemma. I took days off for Christmas and have New Years Day off, but here I am at work, met with clients in the early morning (8am- so I left my house at 7am ) and now have a break until 3pm…essentially I am getting paid at work to write on my blog! Score! LOL (Spencer if you’re reading this, I already shared with Ines and we are cool)
So I went and took pictures of my cute outfit today (sweater and jacket by Express, jeans by JCPenney, and boots by Shoedazzle) and maybe I’ll make a Target run later. Target is the bomb if you don’t know already. I’ve got in deep trouble there before and probably will again.
If I’m at work not working, should I be at work getting paid? Here is the dilemma…when I first started my blog (remember I told my boss I wouldn’t blog while at work but he said it was ok if I used my work comp to blog, just that I couldn’t watch porn….that was funny). So here I am blogging at work…
Granted all my documentation is done, emails answered and such…I’m just patiently waiting for a client to show up (in two hours)…haha so here I am blogging while at work, not working, but getting paid. It sounds like a great gig right?? LOL Maybe I shouldn’t look this “gift horse in the mouth”? Such an odd expression, who gets a gift horse? I would like a horse gifted to me….such are my thoughts at work but not working 🙂 It’s almost like an early Friday present LOL! AND WHO DOESN’T JUST LOVE FRIDAYS??
Oh my goodness friends! I have to share my funny husband this morning…So he gets a little stressed when I schedule up our day, especially on Saturdays. But this Saturday is special right?? It’s the day before Christmas Eve, technically the last shopping day for us because tomorrow is Sunday and I don’t shop on Sunday.
So he wanted to do a couple things today: he wanted to go to the mall I knew he would have a difficult time cause of the day and season (he said he wanted to get me a surprise because a few days ago I kind of explained it’s more fun to have a surprise present instead of knowing everything I’m getting for Christmas…let’s be honest I’M THE ONE THAT PICKED IT ALL OUT LOL) So he headed out to get me a surprise…this doesn’t end well you know that right?? 😉
He just got back from the store and is freaking mad! (I warned him to eat breakfast before he left, but did he listen to me…nooooo). Apparently there were some people cutting him off in traffic which might be normal today as there is still a lot of construction on one of our major highways and a ton of people on the road. The only saving grace is there is no snow yet. He came home and is telling me about his excursion and his voice is raising and his face is turning red….and I just start laughing uncontrollably cause he is FREAKING OUT! and I knew he should’ve ate! While laughing I tell him to please eat before he has a stroke…
So be safe out there friends! It’s Christmas Eve eve and many people are shopping at the last minute, which might be that they didn’t have enough money before or whatever reason. Let’s be kind to each other and keep the spirit of Christmas no matter our situation.
And let us not forget, I have a holiday outfit today to match the movie Jumanji! We are going to Jumanji tonight and I wanted to have fun with the jungle theme! I paired my Express sequin leggings to a OldNavy camo jacket and have fun that way because I’m not a party girl but show others you can wear sequins at any time and make it fun!
So I have the next five days off and it’s starting out wonderful. I went to a work party yesterday along with a friend’s son wedding reception; today I visited a couple of new friends and will spend some time with my children/grandchildren/hubs tonight for another work party to see Star Wars again! I just can’t get enough LOL! Tomorrow I’ll be wandering around the neighborhood handing out fun treats to all the people I enjoy 🙂 Then we’ll be decorating gingerbread houses with four lovely, exuberant grandchildren! We are going to have so much fun!
Sunday will be such a beautiful day…we are having lunch with some of our children and then we always read “The Three Trees” on Christmas Eve…it’s a wonderful story of three trees that grow the same time as Jesus birth and it’s a beautiful story…check it out and share with your family.
Christmas day will be relaxing and spent with my husband and children and grandchildren…I just love being with my family. I consider it a wonderful week if I’ve seen each of my children. Holidays are all about family for me and there is nothing I’d rather do than just spend the day hanging out and playing games and all. We will have a wonderful time.
What are all of your holiday traditions? What are your favorite things to do over the holidays? I hope you all have a wonderful and very merry Christmas and weekend!
(PS…since I have time off, I’m having fun creating new outfits! Here is a fun one with a sheer embroidered top from Target. Since I won’t be wearing a sheer top by itself, I wear a black long sleeve shirt underneath with my Express destroyed jeans and DSW burgundy booties! It’s super fun….and ya know….I could do this all day and not miss going to work! haha LIVE YOUR DREAM PEOPLE!
