It’s A Colorful Spring

Hello friends and Happy Wednesday!

I was thinking of all the bright colors in my closet this spring and had a little giggle reflecting back to the movie “Devil Wore Prada”- “florals for spring? Groundbreaking”! LOL! I think spring is always full of bright, fun colors but for some reason I’m really rocking them (no matter what Miranda Priestly says- I don’t need her permission, I don’t work for her!)

So I thought I would share two of this week’s fun bright spring looks that I love (closet shopping win)!

First I couldn’t resist going all purple/pink on Monday! Seriously, who can resist such fun colors! Purple is actually my favorite color (I might not own enough purple items, that’s something I would love to fix). I wore pink slacks with a pink/blue/purple plaid blouse from JCPenney along with my purple Walmart espadrilles and a super cute lavender bag I snagged from Target. (All of these items are budget friendly-my JCPenney shopping usually involves a discount or coupon and obviously my Walmart shoes are not breaking the bank πŸ˜‰

I LOVED LOVED being all pink and purple…I think I was more cheerful and pleasant (ok the sun was shining too) but color really seems to make me happy.

Then yesterday I had to wear more COLOR! Specifically I wore my bright poppin yellow slack, a floral/striped blouse, my super cute yellow polka dot kitten heels and a bold pink bag! I was feeling very bright and happy! My slacks, blouse, and bag are all JCPenney (bag and blouse are old) and my heels are a special find from DSW about a month ago. So far I’m trying to wear them as often as possible as they are so super cute and very comfy.

I hope these colorful looks are inspiring to you and give you the courage to try something fun for yourself. Don’t be afraid to wear what you want. You might inspire someone else too!

Mixing Patterns How To

Hello friends and happy weekend!

It’s been a few days since I posted; I have no excuse for myself! Lol! (I will do better I promise)!

I thought I would share how I mix patterns!

Here I’m wearing a striped burgundy blouse and a leopard vest. Some people in the past might not think it matches but it anymore! You can match almost anything! It’s important to remember that some prints can be used as neutrals; leopard and camo print are such fun and you can match them with other fun prints!

So first: the background of my striped shirt is white-the backgrounders of my vest is white and that makes them perfect to match. I added my burgundy pants and white boots to go along with the blouse and vest.

Some leopard prints have a gold background and some have a black background so do a little experimenting with your prints.

I love to match leopard with green, pink, red, burgundy, and black patterns of solids. Pops of color will really add to your wardrobe!

I also love camo print and it goes so well with red, pink, black, tan, forest green, and brown (all of these could be a print -I love pink prints with camo-it’s darling).

Florals, plaids, and stripes are all fun prints to combine as long as you stick to similar shades. Don’t be afraid to try something yourself.

Closet Creativity

Hello friends! And welcome to another installment of my thriftiness/thankfulness marathon labeled as closet creativity! I hope my efforts to shop my closet help you think of ways you can also do the same!

Today I’m sharing a new (yet old) outfit I created from my closet and I really had some fun! First I snagged my blue floral pants by Loft (purchased last year or year before) a T shirt from Target, my striped cardigan (newer but not in the last two months) and I was stuck at what to do with my feet! These pants are normally a summer staple and wear with one or two open toe shoes but it’s not very warm although I still wanted to do something fun! Then I remembered my glitter pumps I purchased last year from White House Black Market and realized my cute patterned socks (Amazon) would match perfectly with the turquoise detail running through the pants!

All day I was mesmerized by the sparkle and floral of my shoes/socks/pants. I’m so glad I decided to shop my closet because I have somewhat forgot about these glitter pumps and it being the holiday season, glitter is so trendy and fun-not to mention adding the socks which is such a fun look I’ve seen on many of my favorite Instagrammers!

I have a typically difficult job as a therapist in a residential setting; most of my clients are difficult, complicated, and struggle with powerful mental illness and/or addiction. It’s normal for someone in my field to develop distractions or ways to make sure they don’t burn out. I have to say that my glitter heels were a much needed distraction the day I wore them.

Normally many people see fashion as frivolous and silly, but my blog, my Instagram, being creative with my closet, wearing glittery heels to work, this is what helps me avoid burn out and this friends: This Is Real World Problems.

Affordable Chic

Hello friends and happy weekend! Thank goodness we made it through the work week right??

Today I’m sharing how easy it is to be trendy and chic on a budget. When I say budget, I normally mean 40% off at JCPenney or 25% off Cartwheel app at Target or rewards from OldNavy cutting the price of a gorgeous coat to $10. This is my budget definition 😊 I love to get something fun and trendy for a great price!

Recently I found a gorgeous pair of pants at Target-Universal Thread that are a deep wine color- on sale -bogo 50% off. I also found a cute print top with a fun neckline and sleeves at JCPenney for 40% off. I combined these two things with last fall’s plaid jacket (also Target-WhoWhatWear and I believe on sale when I purchased) and my last year white boots from Charlotte Russe online-they were $20 and I’ve worn them tons of times.

Some people think you have to spend a lot of money to be on trend but these stores I’ve mentioned almost always have what I’m looking for -for the best price!

Next post I’ll share my $10 coat from OldNavy !

Prairie Chic

Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday!

I hope you’re all well and enjoying the wonderful weather in JULY (or should I say the HEAT) in July? Seriously it was 100 yesterday and I don’t want to leave my house once I get home, it really zaps my energy, I don’t know what to do πŸ˜‰

Anywho…..

I thought to share the fun dress I got on ZARA website, it was a smoking deal ($25 and apparently now $15) and something a little bit different which I love! This is a maxi dress with floral embroidery (cross stitch) in a beautiful plaid pattern and red/black/lite blue colors! I liked it on the website but fell in love in person! It also has a type of embroidery on it that looks like smocking and the neckline ties with these tassels that’s just darling (don’t hold back from this one, it’s to die for!)

My friend at work called it my “Prairie Chic” dress and I really agree and love! I paired it with an equally new but cheap straw bag-Asos (disguised as a close relative of a lunch basket-seriously how cute can we get?) and I wore my tan sandals and gold tassel earrings.Β  The front is somewhat low at the ties so I wore a workout tank in baby blue to keep me from hanging out for all to see. I think it’s so fun!

I’m really building up the dress section of my wardrobe which is fun because I do so love wearing fun dresses and when they are inexpensive, I really feel like I’m killing it in life!

Closet Shopper!

Hello Friends and happy Friday! How fun is it to have a four day work week? I know that a five day week is not really much different than a four day but somehow it makes everything amazing!

The last little while I have been closet shopping (my own, shh) LOL! I’ve been trying to create new combinations with clothes and accessories I already have! I thought I would share a few with you πŸ™‚

First: I went almost all PINK! It’s so fun! I combined a striped pink ruffle sleeve shirt and red/pink floral with black background skirt (both from my Target) and pink sandals with pink earrings that I got for my daughter’s wedding last June. It’s a new fun combination and I love all the pink.

Second: I think summer calls for dresses and I love this maxi that I got for our cruise in January. I paired it with my white jean jacket and some white earrings but added some pop with this fun floral (cutout) bag from Target (again right??). I think this adds punch to the dress which is a lot of blue just worn by itself.

Third: I reached for a fun although unusual pink/purple/black/white printed sort of floral blouse (also Target-last year) and snagged my stretchy black/white patterned pants (Kohl’s last year) but added my circle bag and fun earrings from Target this year! I thought it a fun score!

Fourth: I combined old floral pants (Target of course-me and Target, what’s the deal there??) with a white T and a destroyed jean jacket (Forever21-not new), along with some yellow earrings and of course, my circle bag. (I just love this circle bag, I don’t know if you can tell).

There ya go, four new outfits with flair from mostly another season with a couple of updates! Don’t be afraid to do something different; spend some time in your closet and you might find some new inspiration!

Happy Friday friends and thanks for reading!

Shopper Held for Ransom(

Hello Friends!

This is an urgent message for Obi Wan Gabbana:

I’m a member of the Obsessed Shoppers Committee on a diplomatic mission to Target! Their many brands: Who What Wear, ANewDay, Ava & Vive, Knox Rose, Mossimo, Universal Thread, Sugarfix, and Xhileration are too much for a simple impulsive woman (like me) and can be classified as an act of war πŸ˜‰ LOL (I guess you could say I’ve been watching Star Wars! I even speak six shoe languages, although not Bacchi)

Every time I go to Target I find great items I would love to snag, although we all know I need to exercise SOME self control, it’s a skill right? So instead of buying everything I see, I will take some pics of my favorite pieces and tell you what I would do with them! That’s just as much fun as a diplomatic mission to Alderaan right??? (I AM NOT A COMMITTEE!) Help me Obi Wan Gabbana you’re my only hope…

NOW PRINCESS WE WILL DISCUSS THE LOCATION OF YOUR HIDDEN TARGET CARD!

Bahahahahahaha! (Cute princess below is my granddaughter a few years ago) 😘

ok I found several darling pieces at Target!

Aren’t all these the cutest?? I love the lavender mini bag! I ended up buying the (3rd) and (5th) items! The floral lace skirt was only $8 and the earrings regular price but are super cute with the skirt and I’m thinking a gray t shirt or sweater depending on weather 😊

The two floral tanks would be cute with white pants and a jean jacket or bright jacket to match the tanks.

I love both shoes! Aren’t they darling! I think the olive green sandals would go with anything and same with the slides. They’re both so fun and summery.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Target review! Go and see if there’s something you would enjoy! Have a happy weekend!

Buy versatile pieces

Hello Friends!

Happy Monday!

I read something online that emphasized having a positive attitude, so I’m trying to pass that along. I didn’t drive in snow this morning and it’s been a somewhat sunny day so that is wonderful. I hope your day is going well too!

I thought I would share my thoughts about buying versatile items; like the pants I’m wearing now for example. I purchased these pants at Loft last year, maybe in April? They were in the clearance section for a good deal and I fell in love with the floral and gorgeous blue background.

Last summer I wore with a bright melon top but they’ve really got my love over the winter. I’ve wore them with a tan stripe top, gray sweater (with burgundy jacket), bright pink sweater, and pink stripe top. They really flatter many different things because there are so many colors/tones in the pattern. They’re one of my funnest most favorite print!

I recommend, when you’re contemplating buying an item of clothing or shoes/jewelry; think to yourself, how many things can I combine with this? If there are more than two combinations, I think that’s a great buy! Sometimes you might want to buy something for a special occasion and that is normal, but I want my clothes/accessories/shoes to go with many different things. It’s like the ABC’s, there are only 26 letters but all those combine for dictionaries full of words! I hope I can make that many combinations with my clothes #clothesgoals right??

Happy Monday ya’ll! πŸ™‚

Excited Pink

Hello Friends!

I am finally feeling a bit better! Yay! I seriously have to consider getting the flu shot this coming fall, that hit me real bad…hope it doesn’t ever happen again!

I got to wear the pretty red/pink sweater that I got from Target awhile ago! I originally got this sweater to wear with a floral black/pink/red skirt but I have to wear it with other things right?? An item of clothing needs to be flexible to work in many different ensembles! I love this sweater because it striped, combines hot red/pink, and has some real pretty ruffles on the shoulder which makes it unique.

So I had to wear it today, but wanted to use some creativity in putting an outfit together…(black pants would be too simple right??) So I paired with my pink Express fitted jeans, my black OTK suede boots, and then in a moment of impulsivity grabbed my Desuigal bag (pink, red, camo, black-remember I snagged it at the Dallas airport in a frenzied moment between flights?? I felt so accomplished to find something so darling at such a random time and 40% off)-Score!

I have so much fun wearing something that’s a little out of the ordinary and it helps to make up for my still constant headache….(I’m sure it will eventually go away)…

Later today after work I got my hair done courtesy of my talented niece Bronwyn at Suggestions Salon in Orem Utah. While waiting for the dye to cure (?) I leafed through some magazines and saw some real fun and creative (styles) to combine for some interesting outfits. I love discovering new inspiration for clothes, it’s just really fun and then my brain starts whirring through all my clothes trying to figure out new creations to showcase my personality. Don’t you think each of our own fashion choices should give a clue to our personality? No matter a person’s age, I think yes is the correct answer! After a nice wash and scalp massage (maybe this is key to de-stress?), I realized my headache was gone, so that is such a blessing that I don’t even have a headache anymore or wobegone roots! What a great way to end my day! Have a happy Tuesday night/hump day tomorrow! We are halfway through the week!! (I added a link to this gorgeous sweater)!

Fashion and Health? (Not the same unfortunately)

Hello friends,

So I’m still not feeling well and had this idea that it might be good to get out and get some fresh air…I thought maybe the sunshine and fresh air would help me feel better as laying on a couch has NOT LOL..

So I drove to Target which usually has an invigorating effect (I thought walking around would give me some energy, seriously this is the worse flu I have ever experienced-my head and eye socket still hurt-probably TMI). Even though my plan did not help, I found some wonderful items at Target! and quickly came home to lay back down (of course).

I found a darling pair of black/white checked flats with bows that were on clearance, which will go so cute with this green, black/white floral patterned dress. I also tried on a long lavender cardigan (so spring) and a striped pink button up shirt and some pearl studded jeans (also on clearance). I found some great fashion deals, tried out my fresh air experiment, and got some sunshine; although still feel poorly. (Back at home, watching Sherlock Holmes-Robert Downey Jr/Jude Law style-gotta love Guy Ritchie).

I recommend each of you run to Target, even if you feel ill. They have some great deals, check out the clearance aisles in shoes and clothes!
