An exercising heart for Christmas!

So I got a set of DVD’s for Christmas; T25 BeachBody work out and some workout clothes from OldNavy. I used the first DVD this morning, the Cardio workout…I was super pumped…for a couple minutes. Then I got sweaty and tired and somewhat confused about the direction to kick my foot! haha I will not give up!

The cardio workout has a couple of tricky steps and I have to tell you, I’m not super coordinated. A couple months ago, I participated in a neighborhood Zumba class directed by a good friend about 30 years older and more coordinated than I. She kicked butt and I moved the wrong direction several times in five minutes.

The last ten years I’ve weightlifted on and off (shoulder injuries and health problems in general interrupted at times) but I don’t have to be coordinated at all to be able to weight lift. I want to be one of those older ladies that can still walk when I’m 90 years old, so I will persevere in my workouts!

My grandpa turned 96 a few short weeks ago and he’s still moving around…the key is staying active when you don’t have to….going up and down the stairs when there’s an elevator, walking up the escalator; even forgetting something upstairs at home is not a bad thing because I can run up and downstairs as many times as I forget something (which is often, FYI)

So I thought I’d share my daily experience getting back into an exercise routine and my workout clothes from Old Navy. The cross cross ankle detail on these pants is super fun (Fashion can motivate me to exercise don’t ya know!) if there are any of you thinking of getting more active, there is never a bad time to get moving! Let me know if you want my support or encouragement! It’s never too late to get moving and get your heart muscle beating regularly 🙂 Even if you are coordinated or not! Join my un-coordinated club! 😉

Is it the Christmas Rush? Anyone stressed??

Oh my goodness friends! I have to share my funny husband this morning…So he gets a little stressed when I schedule up our day, especially on Saturdays. But this Saturday is special right?? It’s the day before Christmas Eve, technically the last shopping day for us because tomorrow is Sunday and I don’t shop on Sunday.

So he wanted to do a couple things today: he wanted to go to the mall :/ I knew he would have a difficult time cause of the day and season (he said he wanted to get me a surprise because a few days ago I kind of explained it’s more fun to have a surprise present instead of knowing everything I’m getting for Christmas…let’s be honest I’M THE ONE THAT PICKED IT ALL OUT LOL) So he headed out to get me a surprise…this doesn’t end well you know that right?? 😉

He just got back from the store and is freaking mad! (I warned him to eat breakfast before he left, but did he listen to me…nooooo). Apparently there were some people cutting him off in traffic which might be normal today as there is still a lot of construction on one of our major highways and a ton of people on the road. The only saving grace is there is no snow yet. He came home and is telling me about his excursion and his voice is raising and his face is turning red….and I just start laughing uncontrollably cause he is FREAKING OUT! and I knew he should’ve ate! While laughing I tell him to please eat before he has a stroke…

So be safe out there friends! It’s Christmas Eve eve and many people are shopping at the last minute, which might be that they didn’t have enough money before or whatever reason. Let’s be kind to each other and keep the spirit of Christmas no matter our situation.

And let us not forget, I have a holiday outfit today to match the movie Jumanji! We are going to Jumanji tonight and I wanted to have fun with the jungle theme! I paired my Express sequin leggings to a OldNavy camo jacket and have fun that way because I’m not a party girl but show others you can wear sequins at any time and make it fun!

Christmas Weekend

Hello Friends!

So I have the next five days off and it’s starting out wonderful. I went to a work party yesterday along with a friend’s son wedding reception; today I visited a couple of new friends and will spend some time with my children/grandchildren/hubs tonight for another work party to see Star Wars again! I just can’t get enough LOL! Tomorrow I’ll be wandering around the neighborhood handing out fun treats to all the people I enjoy 🙂 Then we’ll be decorating gingerbread houses with four lovely, exuberant grandchildren! We are going to have so much fun!

Sunday will be such a beautiful day…we are having lunch with some of our children and then we always read “The Three Trees” on Christmas Eve…it’s a wonderful story of three trees that grow the same time as Jesus birth and it’s a beautiful story…check it out and share with your family.

Christmas day will be relaxing and spent with my husband and children and grandchildren…I just love being with my family. I consider it a wonderful week if I’ve seen each of my children. Holidays are all about family for me and there is nothing I’d rather do than just spend the day hanging out and playing games and all. We will have a wonderful time.

What are all of your holiday traditions? What are your favorite things to do over the holidays? I hope you all have a wonderful and very merry Christmas and weekend!

(PS…since I have time off, I’m having fun creating new outfits! Here is a fun one with a sheer embroidered top from Target. Since I won’t be wearing a sheer top by itself, I wear a black long sleeve shirt underneath with my Express destroyed jeans and DSW burgundy booties! It’s super fun….and ya know….I could do this all day and not miss going to work! haha LIVE YOUR DREAM PEOPLE!

Twas the week before Christmas

And all through the house, half the Christmas lights are off, the heat is down, the sink is full of dishes I didn’t dirty 😉 …. the drive home from work was hairy, my eyes hurt, I haven’t seen the sun all day, I left the house in the dark, I came home in the dark, no one cooked me dinner AND

Twas the week before Christmas! And I only have to work Tuesday and Wednesday and I’m off until the 27th!

I can do this, I can do this, I can do this 🙂 You are right I can!

Hello Friends!

I’m actually excited this week because it’s only a three day work week for me! It’s just hard to actually WORK those three days! LOL Okay I have Monday done…I can do this, I can do this, I can do this.

Thursday will be fun because it’s my work ugly sweater Christmas party and yes….I am going into work JUST to show off my sweater…and it will be fun. No one will speak work words to me…just putting that out there 😉

Then Friday is my work (another party) Star Wars party! My employer bought out a theatre, created special shirts for us, and we’re all meeting at the theatre with our significant others (hubs, children, some grandchildren, and other special people) and I’m super excited for this!

Of course I’ve already seen Star Wars last Friday but I can’t give anything away! AND I get to see it again, so how cool is that? Then on Saturday the grandkids are coming over and we are making gingerbread houses! Seriously, my kitchen will be covered with frosting and candy and it’s the most fun EVERRRRRR!

Just to get me through today, I wore this black/grey/pink combination. The jeans and jacket are from Express and the sparkly shoes from White House Black Market. I think the rough edge of jean cuff looks fun with the sparkle of the pumps…It’s a contrast in styles and that’s what makes it a fun outfit. I will keep creating fun outfits to keep myself motivated the next two days!

This will be a fun week, if I can work two more days….I can do this, I can do this, I can do this…… 😉

Haute Christmas Sweaters

Hello friends!

Lately everyone’s been talking about the sparkly, haute Christmas sweaters, dresses, and pants they’ve snagged….and I’m all about fashionista items, but today my post is about a different kind of haute Christmas sweater!

My two friends and I-Holly and Anne plan a monthly girls night and this month we decided to catch the new movie “Murder on the Orient Express”. I heard it was good and we made a date to go, but then we started talking about all the fun of Christmas and thought it would be hilarious to wear “Ugly Christmas Sweaters” to our girls night! I was super excited as the date got closer and last night was the big event! Big event makes it sound like the Oscars or Grammy’s or something right?? LOL

Holly found a darling gingerbread man sweater with big snow balls that her youngest daughter wanted to adopt (read-cut) the gingerbread man, right off the sweater! It’s true that big girls can have just as much fun as little girls!

Anne’s sweater is a litter of Santa kittens surrounded by lovely blinking lights! She was able to wear it as a dress due to size malfunctions ;)! Her daughter also wore it to school and loved it! Haute Christmas sweaters are a hit for all family members!

My sweater is one I’ve made for a work ugly Christmas sweater two years ago (with help from my daughter McKenna), featuring Spock in a blinking Christmas tree (Trek the Halls) along with Rudolph (no animals or gingerbread men were harmed in the making of these sweaters) pulling the Enterprise on the back (Boldly going where no reindeer has gone before)! (We turned the blinking off for the movie of course)! LOL

We had an awkward moment however (only one right??)…hovering in the lobby of the theater trying to find someone to take our picture; finally snagging a theatre attendant but he just walked back and snapped and then handed us the phone/camera wordlessly (first pic below, judge for yourself!)….without saying he was taking a pic! We just kind of laughed about that, uh what to do…wondering how we were gonna get another picture! But another theatre attendant saw us and offered to take more pictures! We are at the mercy of strangers here! (notice we are standing in front of a Jedi…”help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope”, if anyone can help us, it’s the Force)…It was too funny guys!

We finally got some pictures and headed in to watch a really good movie! If you haven’t seen it, go check it out…and just for fun, wear your Haute Christmas Sweaters! Happy Wednesday Everyone!

December Traditions

Hello Friends!

How has your weekend been? Mine has been superb! Really it’s been very nice and I can’t believe I’m saying, the only thing that would have made it better is SNOW! Usually I don’t say stuff like that, but hey it’s December and it’s been 60 degrees…that is weird but didn’t dampen my weekend!

On Thursday (Yes my weekend has been ramping up to fun since Thursday!) my husband and I drove to Salem with family members (mother, father, sister, brother in law, and niece) to look at the lights at Salem Pond and Spanish Fork Golf Course. These communities create some fun light displays that we enjoyed. At Salem Pond, we parked and walked out on the bridge to get a different view of the lights. (I’ll add pictures below) In Spanish Fork we drove through the displays with our windows down and headlights off, it sure is fun and the city adds more lights every year. We drive through that one at least once a year, usually picking up a mug of hot chocolate on the way because its cold (not this year though, I mean yes it was about 40 but seriously that is nothing compared to last year when it snowed early and was below zero for most of December…brrrrr). This was a fun evening.

Friday evening we met family members (aforementioned, along with another niece and her two children and one more niece with her bestie) at the Sandy Expo Center for the Festival of Trees. I have only been once and hubs has never been so we were in for a treat. If you don’t know what the Festival of Trees is: Many people decorate and donate a tree to be sold and profits go to Primary Children’s Medical Center. My husband looked up their history online while we were there and they’ve made millions for the hospital since the event began. I love a benefit like this event; my son Connor spent more than a week at Primary Children’s when he was one year old. He was severely ill and they were the only place able to treat him. Our local hospital did not have the resources or personnel, so he was life flighted (helicopter) and we were so blessed to have the care he needed in that emergency.

Some people donate trees in the names of people (loved ones) recently deceased and the trees are a kind of memorial to the person and things they liked. I’ll add some of my favorite trees from that night.

We visited the fudge and divinity vendors which was fun. Have you ever tried to make divinity?? My sister reminded me of a time when we were young and determined; we tried our hardest to make divinity and it would never set up, so we poured it into a 9×13 pan and set it in the fridge but it still didn’t set up. Divinity is so tempermental! The divinity vendor was sold out when we arrived and they stopped making it so they told us that at 8:55pm (five minutes before closing) we could come back and see if anyone had not picked up their order. So when we heard the “closing announcement” I reminded my sister “Let’s get to the divinity aisle”! and we all booked it down there where our persistence was rewarded and I got a wonderful bite of the heavenly treat. Divinity is divine…. 😉

Then for our big day Saturday (first I slept in til 830, such a wonderful thing) and we discovered a boutique in Salem where my sister got a darling “baby beanie” so cute. We then hit ULTA which is always fun sampling new makeup items. We discovered some gorgeous lip shades and I bought one for myself. We then met up with the whole family; everyone listed above along with our son and two grandchildren and rode the Frontrunner (train running north and south between Provo and Ogden) making our way to downtown Salt Lake to see more lights and visit Temple Square. I love visiting Salt Lake Temple Square, it’s so beautiful and with the lights it’s just magical. There were so many people, we crowded on to the train, then traxx was crowded, and lots of people at City Creek Mall along with Temple Square but we all managed to stay together and get some fun pictures with almost no injuries (little Venna fell and bumped her head, poor little thing; Emily fell two or three times but no bruises or goose eggs)

These are all part of our December traditions; enjoying beautiful light displays, spending time with family, and remembering the birth of our Savior. Merry Christmas everyone.

Sparkle Season!

Hello friends!

Here we are almost through the week! How is everyone doing? I am just in a cheery mood, I don’t know where it’s coming from…oh yes I do! I spent the evening shopping with my mom, dad, sister, two nieces (niece’s two little girls). We really had fun and I seriously found the cutest two pieces of jewelry.

We were roaming through the mall forever and I was still dressed from work, wearing my black booties which are super comfy but not necessarily meant to roam the mall 😉 hahaha (I should store flat shoes in my trunk for mall roaming)!

Anyway, we were in Maurice’s looking for a gift for someone and I happened to find a lovely watch/bracelet double wrap thingy (I’m seriously not sure what to call it) but it’s super fun (cheap, hope that doesn’t sound bad) and totally matches my style! Score!

Then I had to fuel up at Chik Fil A- grilled nuggets and lemonade heaven. Is there anything better than Chik Fil A lemonade? Ok I digress…

We then moved on down the road to TJMAXX because it’s always a good place to snag a deal for gifts right? But I “accidentally” found a bootiful pendant from Betsy Johnson and it’s amazing, so I’m super stoked that I got these bargain finds that add to my sparkle season! I’m a sucker for something pretty and sparkly! I’m going to wear this pendant with my gray Madewell shirt, maybe my leopard jeans, and pink/gold sparkle blazer. A girl’s gotta bling….again and again….

And there’s more! We then went to another mall to JCPenney and wandered into Sephora inside the store. My sister showed me a Stila display and we spent nearly 15 minutes swiping (lipgloss wand type of containers) of glitter eyeshadow on our wrists! I didn’t buy any but I think it’s on my (Christmas) stocking list. I found it online, it’s called Magnificient Metals!

SPARKLE SEASON IS UPON US, JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON WITH ME (or else I’m going down alone Muahahaha)!
