More Hair Chronicles

Hello friends!

Happy Sunday and I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!

I know you all are aware of my struggles with hair loss. Remember on July 6 I got a new blonde wig because I was so tired of worrying about my thinning hair.

I didn’t tell anyone that after I got the wig, I took a pair of scissors and cut my own hair super short. You can see it a little bit in my “Bucket List” post a month or so back. It was easier to tuck in the wig cap.

Well, I’ve even changed that. My youngest daughter knew/saw I cut my hair (to be honest, all my family saw it) and sent me a picture of a super short haircut with shaved sides she thought I would like that I could be comfortable with when I wasn’t wearing my wig.

I really liked the pic my daughter sent but didn’t want to pay anyone to cut my hair since I spent so much money on a wig.

So my oldest daughter (on August 3rd) used my set of clippers and scissors to follow my directions and shave the sides of my head, leaving kind of a Mohawk on the top.

It’s so much easier to wear my wig and I can actually start to see what color my hair really is. I have quite a bit of silver interestingly enough. I tried to get it to stick up straight but I don’t have the right product and my hair has some curl ๐Ÿ˜‚

I’ll wear it sometimes like this on Saturday or at water activities because I can’t get my wig wet.

But I thought you would like to see the evolution of my hair. It’s kind of like The Chronicles of Narnia-๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ only it’s kind of edgy and I might like it ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Travel Misadventures (continued)

Hello friends!

I’m on an AA plane while writing this and today I’ve already had one delayed flight. It’s almost comical, the weird crap happening on our trip! (we did have a wonderful time visiting our children and grandchildren though, that is an important detail to remember)

To start out today, you need to know that at 5am, some idiot pulled the fire alarm at our hotel. There wasn’t a fire but then we were awake and when I did finally go to sleep, I dreamt of getting caught in a fire. Not fun!

To add a little more crazy, at 750 am, someone’s car alarm went off. So I just decided to get up, seriously what’s the point of laying there any longer??

Then when waiting for our flight later at Asheville airport, we find out it’s delayed 2 hours… an airport worker tells us to go back out in the main entrance to the ticket counter and AA will shuttle us by bus to the Charlotte airport (which is 2 hours away???)

Needless to say, we do what AA people tells us to do AND the girls at ticket counter were like “well you can take a bus to Charlotte if you want, but you’ll have to pay for that”…. uh what?

Yes you heard right.

So eventually we got tickets for a later connecting flight from Dallas to home and back we go through security (for the second time in two hours, I really love doing that BTW-sarcasm assumes)

So here we are again waiting for another flight, 2 hours later than our original flight. Our boarding passes did not have seats assigned so we frequently went up to the counter to ask for our seats. Not yet they said.

Finally the call for boarding and the whole room cheered! And we just got up and went in line. Got up to the front and “you have to go over there, he is assigning you seats”-Perfect. Another line for my seat that I’ve requested for two hours and then back in line to get on the plane.

I’m just not very cheery at this point, who knows why….

Eventually we made it to Dallas and after three hours I am on the 1045 flight to SLC- maybe getting home by 1am.

Here’s hoping that nothing else goes wrong.

Happy weekend friends! Air travel at its finest โœˆ๏ธ

Travel Misadventures

Hello friends!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

My week was supposed to be incredibly fun but due to our travel mishaps (over and over) it was less than that.

On our way to NC, we encountered a 3 hour delay on Delta (due to increased heat during the day which lead to our plane being too heavy to get off the ground-I may not be a flight engineer but I do know that is it HOT in August-who in the world was not planning on heat on August 19???-for the love of Pete)!

Due to the afore mentioned but clearly unplanned heat in the midst of summer delay-we missed our connecting flight in Atlanta. We also missed our later (last minute re booked stand by flight) so we were on the hook for an early next morning flight out of Atlanta. But seriously, where on earth were we staying in Atlanta?? We didn’t know until we landed at 10:30pm.

Delta said we would be taken care of by several agents helping us once we got off the plane. There was one agent and a long line. The poor agent gave us a voucher to stay at a local motel although informed us we would not be getting our luggage…. uh what’s that?? You aren’t unloading the plane even though we missed our connecting flight, our rental car in NC, AND our hotel room in NC?? Apparently getting the luggage off the plane would take several hours even though they normally haul luggage off a plane.

They gave us each a mini bag with lotion, razor, toothpaste and toothbrush with a regular hair brush. That’s peachy, I have no clean clothes or underwear and I can’t wash my face but I can brush my teeth and my hair?? Perfect -at least yours truly has a wig and can just put this baby over her unwashed hair -makeup still caked on face-sweaty body-after a freaking long flight. (I did wash my underwear in the sink with a bar of soap and took a bath-thankfully)

And that’s not the end!

We finally get to Asheville NC -I’m still wearing clothes and makeup from yesterday but we’ve landed and are getting the rental car….maybe. The cashier at Budget Rental sends us down to the parking garage where she says someone will meet us and bring our rental …. we wait, and wait, and wait… by this time I’m a little on edge! A couple of older gentlemen drive by with a white van (uh wait, weren’t we supposed to get a white van? Where is it going and why??)

So hubby takes off across the parking garage chasing the white van. Three rows over he is talking to them, still talking, still talking (meanwhile I am losing it-somebody feed me quick!) I yell out “Mike! Is that our van”?? In my loudest voice….

He yells back that they are trying to figure it out. So I have no more nerves left and I grab all our bags at once and stomp across the parking garage. I guess it’s our vehicle cause the two attendants walk away, but I get Mikes attention to open the hatch. And…nothing… we finally realize that they gave us the wrong keys which is really a cruel joke after the trip we’ve had. Mike races after them so they don’t leave the garage (it’s unmanned btw) and has an argument with the attendant because he doesn’t think he gave Mike the wrong keys until he finds them on his ring clipped on his belt!

Can you believe these series of events???

The above events are true and I will share the return fiasco in my next post! This is a trip to truly remember!

Fall into Style

Hello friends!

I thought I would share a fun summer look that would transition easily to fall!

I found this rust colored eyelet top from Target and fell in Love immediately! It has a elastic neck and sleeves and is so comfy. It is eyelet but not see through as sometimes happens with this material.

I wore it with my Kut from the Kloth jeans, leopard slides from TJMaxx, and leopard backpack from ASOS and it’s super cute! I think this top would also be cute with any type of animal print pants or skirt. The eyelet really pops and is so fun!

When the weather cools down, I will add my leopard booties and a cream or black cardigan or possibly a denim jacket and it would be very fun while still keeping you warm!

I love items that can transition to the next season! It makes them so much more fun to wear and I end up wearing these items with several different things.

Wig Adventures??

Hello Friends!

How’s everyone doing this fine Thursday??

I thought I would share something that I can now laugh at in regards to my new wig!

Remember a few weeks ago I went bridge jumping and synchronized swimming? Well the same time I traveled with my daughter and her two children in my husband’s SUV, a Ford Explorer with apparently not enough room for the four of us. Granted we each brought a lot of stuff for six days which is necessary when traveling with children.

But we also brought three camp chairs and two inflatable river rafts. We anticipated playing in the lake and the river. We did float down the river and it was so fun (we got the rafts from Costco $20, a great deal). But we packed up our suitcases and all every day because we moved from one hotel room to another (alas we did not plan ahead) so packing up every day was a HUGE pain.

This is where my wig comes into play. There were a few days I did not wear my wig because we were doing water sports, so I brought a couple nice towels from home and I wrapped my wig carefully in the towels and put it all in my suitcase. On the afternoon we were bridge jumping, my grandchildren were playing in the lake and it started to rain. You might notice this on my video in my bridge jumping post. The wind started to blow and it got quite a bit colder than previously. My daughter told me she was getting towels out of the car.

I thought she meant her towels, I did not know she meant my towels which nestled my wig…my $500 wig. So she arrived back with towels and we headed to the Explorer with the kiddies wrapped up warm.

My daughter walked up to me and explained she found my wig laying next to the road by the bridge as she brought her children up the hillside!

Holy mother of pearl! My wig was laying on the ground?? In the dirt?? Next to the road?? How can this be?? I said a few choice words before we figured out she had opened my suitcase and grabbed my towels without noticing the carefully wrapped wig….oh my heavens.

Well when I calmed down (!!!!!) I told her I was sorry for getting mad at her and I brushed out my wig, so thankful that she had noticed it lying on the side of the road (I didn’t see it there?) and picked up and big wad of hair without really knowing why it was there. I’m so thankful my sweet daughter picked up my new wig!

I’m sure my wig will have many adventures over the next several months.

I wore part of my black Halo on a rollercoaster July 4th and it never even came off! I was upside down for quite awhile, so there’s another adventure right??

You never know what life will throw at you!

Bucket List

Hello friends!

Summer is flying by and I’ve been super busy!

I did something brave last week, I jumped off a bridge into a lake (Palisades Reservoir) It was part of our summer family reunion activities โค๏ธ we also floated down Salt River but no video (lots more fun)

I didn’t know it was on my bucket list; I’ve never jumped off a bridge before. I’ve never jumped off a cliff before.

I don’t know why, now that I’m older, I’m doing all these things? Maybe age causes brain damage??

Apparently there is a correct way to jump off a bridge into water. Who knew?? Not me ๐Ÿคจ and oddly enough I did not ask questions.

It was a high bridge (high to me) in a little cove of the reservoir I often played in while growing up. I learned to water ski there when I was young. I personally still like water skiing better ๐Ÿ˜Š

Apparently one should point the toes, drop in the water straight, with your arms high above your head coming to a point or dive like Greg Louganis (but I can’t do that!) LOL

So I just jumped off when I gathered the courage. My left arm was out to my side with my elbow bent. My right arm tried to plug my nose but missed as the force of the water whipped my hand up and I scratched my own forehead. The water was pretty deep and took awhile to rise to the surface and I had a feeling I would drown (panicked).

But I have it on video that I was brave so I never have to do it again. Thankfully my left arm isn’t hurting so bad anymore ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I hope you enjoy my video- bridge jumping

Vacation Time

Hello Friends and happy Wednesday!

Holy cow it has been a minute right??

I went on vacation the middle of June and am almost caught back up.

My husband and I went on a wonderful trip to Peru! It was amazing friends! If you’re ever able to make it, you should!

Our itinerary: We flew to Lima and spent the day touring the city, we then flew to Cusco-drove south of Cusco to Aqua Caliente where we stayed for three nights.

We visited the remains of a temple at Ollantatambo, stopped to sample barbecued guinea pig, hiked remains of a temple at Pisaq and visited a silver smithing store and a world famous potter-Gemanario- where we got my husband a gorgeous wall sconce for father’s day (he spent the rest of our trip carrying it around all boxed up LOL-but it got home in one piece).

We then took an amazing day to see Machu Picchu (the bus ride up the mountain with all the crazy switchbacks was wild!) and it was breathtaking, I can’t explain how mind boggling it is to actually see in person!

The next day we spent exploring temple ruins (several) in Cusco including Qoricancha, stopped at a Llama farm, and explored Cusco on foot outside of our tour company. That was fun and Cusco is a fabulous city.

The next day we flew from Cusco to Juliaca which is a much higher elevation and we drove through the countryside (visiting a family farm and ruins of a pre incan burial ground before we made our way to Puno (elevation 13,500) right on the edge of Lake Titicaca. I had a little bit of altitude sickness that day and spent some time with oxygen in the morning and at night to help adjust. We took a boat ride out on the lake to visit the Uros floating Islands which was way way cool and then we were out in the body of the lake and far far in the distance, we could see the side of Bolivia.

That night we took a taxi into Puno and ate at a fun Chinese restaurant (yes in Peru-only two chinese people in all of Puno!) and made our way back to the hotel through a group of people protesting in front of a court building. That was interesting, I heard a couple of people say “gringos” LOL but we were safe!

The next morning we began our two day flight back to the USA. We flew from Juliaca to Cusco, Cusco to Lima, Lima to LA and LA to SLC. We had a nine hour layover in Lima and a six hour layover in LA.

Finally we made it home and I was tired, but we sure had fun! It was an amazing trip and I love the country of Peru!

I hope you enjoy some of my pictures!

(Another post later this week will address my wardrobe issues while on this trip ๐Ÿ˜‚)!
