Crop Tops (are for you)

Hey friends! Happy Sunday! I hope this post helps you ignore that tomorrow is Monday! 😊

I thought I would share something I discovered lately; it seems as if crop tops are making another splash into fashion. That is all fine and good if you are 24 (I used to think)-

A few months ago (really it was probably 6 months) I found the cutest crop tee -regular neckline) from Forever 21, it’s an army green with bold letters spelling “Chicago” and I just fell in love (plus it reminds me of my trip to this beautiful city)! It’s been in my drawer forever (you know I seldom get rid of clothes-just in case) and this week I was scrounging for something different to wear when I re discovered my crop tee!

Let me tell you how a crop tee works for someone my age…you wear high waisted jeans with it! And I also added a structured plaid jacket (I wore to work) so it seems very businesslike until you realize I’m wearing distressed denim and a crop top. It’s so fun!

I’m gonna keep my eyes open for more crop tops! (Think Forever 21- such a wallet friendly place) Be open to all kinds of styles no matter your age! You can make anything fit your own vibe!

One Dress Several Ways

Hello friends and happy Monday eve! (Generally no one looks forward to Monday so I hope you hear my tongue in cheek tone!) 🀣

On Labor Day I snagged some sweet deals from Chicos at 50% off and I thought I would share one special vibrant pink dress!

It’s actually a magenta made of ponte knit. It has wonderful button details down the sleeves and it fits really well! Ponte is such a long wearing material which almost acts like a shaper itself. It’s such a great choice for this dress.

Today I wore it with my leopard heels (they’re old from Old Navy) When the weather cools down I’ll include my leopard cardigan also from Chicos.

It’s such a fun dress that I added another way to wear it! I bought a zebra print ruana (check out the pretty details) from Chicos too and added it to my dress while switched out my leopard heels for gray suede booties (these are also old- bought from Nordstrom Rack maybe three years ago).

I hope you like these different options for such a vibrant flattering dress! I really do like the magenta shade!

It’s A Woman Thing

So last night, I had to unwind before going to bed. Work this week was not a pleasant experience. (For some reason I feel like work should be fun! It shouldn’t be work, I don’t know where I’ve got this odd idea)

My Oprah magazine came in the mail and I thought I would read a bit to focus on something else!

I found an article on Menopause and thought I would see if there’s anything in it to help explain WTH my life feels the way it does πŸ˜‚πŸ˜† I was genuinely curious.

So, to give a little background. Thursday in heading in the door to work and finding out there isn’t an office – I felt this crazy surge of rage (and freak I’m not an angry person) and an image popped into my head of myself “throwing my metal water bottle at the speed of light smashing through the big glass window” in our main front office-WTH is wrong with me??

Anyway, back to my magazine and article on menopause. Did you know, unreasonable anger is a symptom of menopause?? When I read that, I thought you gotta be kidding me!! All this time I wondered if I was going crazy or if I was a bad person or somehow I’ve been crazy all along. Trust me, these are odd thoughts for me as a therapist but this totally makes sense to me.

There have been soooo many times at the checkout or in traffic or at work that I just feel outrageously angry and I never knew this is normal for a woman going through menopause.

First off, it might just be lucky that we don’t have many menopausal women going postal out in public cause I’ve managed to control my flash of anger but how is everyone else doing it?

Holy cow, wouldn’t it be nice if someone let us know this is what to expect when we will never be expecting?? Hopefully one day my hormones will settle down and I’ll be my normal self again.

More Hair Chronicles

Hello friends!

Happy Sunday and I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!

I know you all are aware of my struggles with hair loss. Remember on July 6 I got a new blonde wig because I was so tired of worrying about my thinning hair.

I didn’t tell anyone that after I got the wig, I took a pair of scissors and cut my own hair super short. You can see it a little bit in my “Bucket List” post a month or so back. It was easier to tuck in the wig cap.

Well, I’ve even changed that. My youngest daughter knew/saw I cut my hair (to be honest, all my family saw it) and sent me a picture of a super short haircut with shaved sides she thought I would like that I could be comfortable with when I wasn’t wearing my wig.

I really liked the pic my daughter sent but didn’t want to pay anyone to cut my hair since I spent so much money on a wig.

So my oldest daughter (on August 3rd) used my set of clippers and scissors to follow my directions and shave the sides of my head, leaving kind of a Mohawk on the top.

It’s so much easier to wear my wig and I can actually start to see what color my hair really is. I have quite a bit of silver interestingly enough. I tried to get it to stick up straight but I don’t have the right product and my hair has some curl πŸ˜‚

I’ll wear it sometimes like this on Saturday or at water activities because I can’t get my wig wet.

But I thought you would like to see the evolution of my hair. It’s kind of like The Chronicles of Narnia-πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ only it’s kind of edgy and I might like it 😎

I’m An Animal (print lover)

Hello Friends and happy Monday!

I’m done venting about my travel fails and on this Monday back to fashion blogging LOL!

I’ve noticed a lot of different animal prints are on the runway, in magazines, and on the sidewalk lately. I’ve added to my animal print collection in a few different ways.

I discovered two fun new pieces from Target the last two weeks. The first one is a leopard print jumper! It’s such a great piece and I wore it with my white sneakers on my fated flight to North Carolina last week, but don’t hold that against this cute jumper. It’s easy on/easy off, has a little stretch to the material, and zips up the front. It’s a super cute addition to your wardrobe at a great price-$30 ordered online.

My next piece is a darling faux fur leopard bag with gold metal handles. I discovered it in a North Carolina Target- (on a trip for essentials, doesn’t that always happen when traveling??) and I can’t wait to use it. It would be so cute with a floral top/distressed jeans or a floral dress with fun heels. I even think it would be gorgeous with my yellow suit! I’ll take pictures of some examples and add them to this post.

Don’t be afraid of leopard. It’s one trend that has been steady for years and years. Get yourself some pieces and have fun!

Travel Misadventures (continued)

Hello friends!

I’m on an AA plane while writing this and today I’ve already had one delayed flight. It’s almost comical, the weird crap happening on our trip! (we did have a wonderful time visiting our children and grandchildren though, that is an important detail to remember)

To start out today, you need to know that at 5am, some idiot pulled the fire alarm at our hotel. There wasn’t a fire but then we were awake and when I did finally go to sleep, I dreamt of getting caught in a fire. Not fun!

To add a little more crazy, at 750 am, someone’s car alarm went off. So I just decided to get up, seriously what’s the point of laying there any longer??

Then when waiting for our flight later at Asheville airport, we find out it’s delayed 2 hours… an airport worker tells us to go back out in the main entrance to the ticket counter and AA will shuttle us by bus to the Charlotte airport (which is 2 hours away???)

Needless to say, we do what AA people tells us to do AND the girls at ticket counter were like “well you can take a bus to Charlotte if you want, but you’ll have to pay for that”…. uh what?

Yes you heard right.

So eventually we got tickets for a later connecting flight from Dallas to home and back we go through security (for the second time in two hours, I really love doing that BTW-sarcasm assumes)

So here we are again waiting for another flight, 2 hours later than our original flight. Our boarding passes did not have seats assigned so we frequently went up to the counter to ask for our seats. Not yet they said.

Finally the call for boarding and the whole room cheered! And we just got up and went in line. Got up to the front and “you have to go over there, he is assigning you seats”-Perfect. Another line for my seat that I’ve requested for two hours and then back in line to get on the plane.

I’m just not very cheery at this point, who knows why….

Eventually we made it to Dallas and after three hours I am on the 1045 flight to SLC- maybe getting home by 1am.

Here’s hoping that nothing else goes wrong.

Happy weekend friends! Air travel at its finest ✈️
