Hello friends and Happy Wednesday!
Today I’m sharing the color of the year- Pantone color of the year 2019-Living Coral 🙂
This is an amazing color that I’m already having fun with. I originally bought a cardigan (a few years ago-it’s had it’s day unfortunately) but I found this cute light weight long sleeve top from Walmart (it ties on the side) and is so soft and lays in a really flattering way. I thought I would share my first pairing of this fun color!
I bought this embroidered jean jacket from Macys several years ago, the pants from Chicos last year, and the boots from Express last winter but I paired it with this bright bold hue because I am eager for spring! The pictures don’t look like spring is on it’s way any time soon but I love this color and it’s so flattering on those with my facial tones or darker hair. There are many variations of this color to match your own tones, so don’t be afraid to get out there and discover something new in this color family!
I’ve been listening/watching several inspirational speakers (Rachel Hollis, Ashley Lemieux, Mike Lemieux, and Stuart Edge) which is really pumping me up to be myself! ❤️
Today I thought I would share the times in my life that I DID NOT LISTEN to others opinions of me and that makes me proud of myself.
Many years ago in admiring (someone close to me-their coworker physical workout and body improvement) I said “I want to do that, I want to do what they did” – to which my loved one said- “you can’t do that, what makes you think you can”? To which I thought to myself-watch me, and then I’ll rub your nose in it.
Many years ago the same person (now not part of my life) said “no one’s going to want to marry you or date you, you’re old and have all these kids”- to which I thought- you’re an a$$hole-I’m worthy just the way I am, anyone would be happy to be in a relationship with me.
Several years ago, in speaking with a loved one (different one this tome) about my course work in graduate school, she said “you don’t really think you can be a therapist do you? You can’t do that”. To which I thought, you aren’t really in my corner are you and yes I can. (We haven’t had much of a relationship since).
A couple of years ago someone said “you can’t really be a blogger or have a fashion Instagram-why are you trying”? To which I thought, wow you don’t know me at all do you? I am already doing that.
And then there are the three times I listened: one person (not really close but a trusted adult) shamed me for my voice-“why do you always talk like a baby”, another person close to me (or so I thought) shamed me for my voice- almost exact words, and another time I listened…someone shamed me for posting on Facebook and Instagram (about several things) AND I listened.
I’m not listening anymore to the voices that tell me who they think I should be -THAT IS MY DECISION-and that is why I’m sharing this with you today.
Hello Friends and happy Thursday!
We are more than halfway through the week! Yay! Thursday is just one day from Friyay and I’ve found it’s easier to hype myself on Thursday than Monday. Thursday is my second favorite day of the work week LOL
I’ve been reading and seeing all about the athleisure look wondering if I could really wear it too, sometimes trends seem too young to give a go, but a couple weeks ago I was perusing the Macys clearance rack and discovered two awesome items: one is a Calvin Klein spin on leopard print with pinks and purples (it’s really not a challenge for me to get on board with any type of leopard and the second are black (thick weave) leggings with a silver sparkle strip down the outside of the legs (the sparkle and strip are totally me)! I was super excited to match these together (and I’ve wore the leggings with other things of course, they are so versatile). I added my pink Rocketdogs and a white purse and it looks so fun! You’d never know it’s really work out clothes (really we are so lucky that fashion now is so versatile. It’s cool to wear something in a different context, mix prints, mix styles, and wear bold colors together! It’s such a fun time in fashion!)
I hope this gives you inspiration to wear your own spin of athleisure throughout your week and not just while working out 🙂
I had a wonderful day off (thanks to all the past presidents)-work holiday. But tomorrow I go back to work 🙁 I wish I could figure out a way to get paid and NOT work. I haven’t figured that out yet 😂🤣
Anyway! It’s still WINTER and one way I cheer myself up is through fashion; specifically fashion that defies winter!
When you think of Winter, do you think of darker days, cold weather, snow, and slick roads? Well I do too, and so I think it’s fun to play opposite game and switch to something opposite of all that which in this case is PASTELS! Pastels are usually reserved for spring or weddings right?? Not anymore!
I found this awesome mint green faux fur jacket on clearance at Target, combined with these cute mint Nike’s from JCPenney; then I added white just to be feisty! White jeans (also JCPenney) and a pastel striped “Hello” sweater I accidentally snagged from Walmart! (Score!)
Isn’t this the perfect attitude when facing winter?? Gimme all you got, I’m not scared… yep that’s what we’ve got to do to get through- chin up and show some attitude 😊
Sorry it’s been so long! Work has been crazy with three big trainings in three weeks! That left me pretty busy and at night I was worn out.
But I’m back and ready to share some fun content!
Closet shoppers pay attention! 😂
I’ve had this long jacket almost two year (OldNavy) and these amazing heels around three years from (Nordstrom Rack). I combined these two with my sweater dress from Target and (Shazam)! I have a new amazing outfit that’s super on trend now!
I get so excited when I discover a new way to wear something old! Plus it’s always fun to wear these suede heels (I’m so glad I’ve had them this long- they’re one of my most comfortable heels!
Anytime you can shop your closet and discover something new is a good day!
How is everyone doing today?
I had a fearful, anxiety ridden, treacherous 2 1/2 hour drive to work today fearing for my life in a terrible snowstorm! I hope it doesn’t happen again tomorrow cause I can’t deal with that again 😩😬
BUT in other news, fashion news…
I fell in love with wearing BRIGHT BOLD colors together and it’s so fun!
I’ve had this purple sweater for a long time (did I mention it’s my favorite color?) and I always have red pants. Have you ever thought of mixing the two?? They are natural colors to mix: blue and red combined create purple; so purple can match well with either red or blue! And it’s such an eye catching combination!
I saw it at first at JCPenney and then next on one of my favorite bloggers @chicover50 so I’m sharing a fun bright colorful look with two different shoes!
Hello friends and happy weekend!
I’m sharing a story of two loves recently reunited! It involves a cold spring trip to Chicago 😂
In 2016 I accompanied hubs on a work training he had in Chicago the end of April. I was super excited because I had never been and I could do some sightseeing while he was training.
I checked the weather on a couple of apps and it said 50 degrees or so and so I brought several warmer spring outfits and a couple light cardigans. (Those of you living in Chicago or having visited at that time might guess what happened) 😂🤣
It was freakin cold! Everyone was bundled up, still wearing coats and boots and I brought spring clothing! Holy cow! I even brought sandals. Yes I was miserable and the only one in the city wearing sandals but I still went out and took a (very cold) boat tour of the city. It was amazing and I’d love to go back-in the summer.
While I was there I momentarily visited the (is it five stories) Macys downtown! Normally I could spend all day doing this but I was with two other (work wives) and they weren’t much into shopping-unfortunately 🙁 but I was looking for a pair of boots! There are always good reasons to buy boots but this time I was looking for something to keep my feet warm.
I ended up finding a black suede pair with fringe on the side- only they were a 9 1/2 and I wear a 10. They were a wee bit tight but I needed boots bad and they were cute.
I spent the remainder of the trip wearing these too small boots and by the time we were flying home I knew I couldn’t keep them. I gave them to my youngest daughter and she wears them with thick socks 😂
BUT! This week at Target (of course at Target) I found a cute (size 10) pair of short black cowboy boots with fringe! How lucky am I to reunite with my fringe boots???
Reunited and it feels (and fits) so good!!
