Hair Saga

Hello friends and happy Sunday!

I thought I’d share some of my continuing hair ideas.

Most of you know I have hashimotos and struggle with fluctuating hair loss. A few months ago I purchased a couple of Halo extensions.

One problem I have is that if I’m not wearing the extensions, I need to pull my own hair up into a clip. Some of my hair is long and some about chin length due to frequent hair loss and then regrowth; it’s a constant struggle with autoimmune disease.

My thought is that I will cut my own hair so that sometimes I can have my own hair “out and about” or wearing a hat (which I love to do but can’t with the extensions) and sometimes I’ll wear my extensions (have long hair).

What do you all think of this? I know many people that wear different hair pieces depending on their mood.

One idea is this type of pixie cut which I’ve had before and I like. Another is Cate Blanchett’s hair in Oceans Eight (a new movie with Sandra Bullock). I’m leaning toward the blunt cut (Cate’s cut). It’s different and fun and then when I want long hair I can put on my extensions.

Here are some pictures to show what I mean. (Pixie cut courtesy of Victoria Beckham) I hope this helps anyone else who might be struggling with hair loss too. (BTW watch this movie-Oceans Eight, cause I love Cate Blanchett’s style and will be trying to copy her in some ways IRL 😂🤣)

Thankful for my Legs

Hello friends!

Happy Thursday! Can you believe it’s the end of September? It doesn’t feel like it here in Utah; it’s still a little warm.

I was walking the other day, trying to get in my 10,000 steps and over the time of my walk- I noticed feeling very thankful for my legs.

I have a couple of scars on my knees- one I don’t remember what happened but the other was a bicycle wreck when I was a teenager. Several years ago I hurt my left knee waterskiing and this year I hurt my right knee in another bicycle accident but no lasting effects from these incidents.

I can’t generally sit cross legged or kneel/squat for long periods as my knees and hips start to ache; but on the whole my legs have really taken me far and been so dependable.

I’m very thankful for the things my body does: such as biking on the river trail and lifting weights.

I think it’s important to focus on what our bodies do rather than what they look like. How about you?

Wearing O’ the Plaid

Hey friends!

Happy Monday! I thought to give a short update on my plaid outfit with one of the variations. I wore my plaid pants with the burgundy striped blouse (Both from H&M) and I think it turned out very fun! I added my studded sandals from Forever 21 and my circle bag/fringe earrings from Target.

Today is a fall theme outfit but it’s also an affordable outfit! When the weather is cooler, I’ll add a moto jacket and the faux fur loafers (you know that’s gonna be super fun!)

Try this trend out for yourself 🙂

My Plaid Obsession

Hello Friends!

Happy Thursday! How are all of you doing? I’m not quite recovered from my training last weekend (I need a Saturday morning to lay in bed to complete the process) but I thought while waiting patiently for that moment to arrive, I would share my plaid obsession!

It seems like I go through stages that I have more of one style or pattern than others and I’m realizing this with plaid. The more I go through my closet, my more I realize I have! So I thought to share with you some ways to style plaid this fall!

Here are some awesome plaid pants I got from H&M for only $14.99. I paired them with my gray T, tassel necklace, black circle bag, and my bold silver boots. Honestly it is such a fun outfit, I love the vibe!

Then I thought to pair these same pants with a burgundy stripe blouse, also H&M and my burgundy booties with a white earring and gray bag.

For another outfit I have a burgundy sweater with ruffled collar and sleeves (in cooler temps), along with a black moto jacket and black booties with sparkly earrings.

There are so many ways to style plaid and it’s so fun for fall; jump right in and get mad for plaid!

Couch Potato Plan

Hello friends!

How are you all this wonderful Wednesday?? I’m so glad the week is half over. I’m telling you my training was tough tough tough. It’s the most difficult thing I’ve done for years!

We spent the whole training in silence which was not as difficult as spending (25) 25 minute meditation-which means I sat on a chair with a straight posture, my feet flat on the floor and my hands resting on my knees without moving. (Some people sat on cushions with their legs crossed but baby my knees are at a age that I cannot sit cross legged anymore LOL) So I sat on a chair. It was so hard! But I made it through and am very proud of myself.

We did this training on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound outside of Seattle Washington and oh my gosh it’s such a pretty area. The smells of the forest around us was AMAZING! I couldn’t figure out what smelled so good until a co worker, born and raised in Washington told me it was the redwood trees, cedar smell. Friends, I’ve never been so in love with trees before. OH MY GOSH it was so beautiful, so that helped to balance out the HARD.

But last night as I got home from work, I had no desire to do anything but lay on the couch, (I was so tired) cue up my new Jurassic World movie and eat Thai food. That was my couch potato plan and I enjoyed it!

Enjoy the pictures I’m adding of the area around The Whidbey Institute. It’s a gorgeous place. I’m also adding pictures of the cabin we stayed.

Training to be Silent

Hey friends!

So this weekend I’m involved in a training for work (Friday-Monday) on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound (Outside Seattle)

This is a silent mindfulness training (labeled a retreat) and honestly works well for me because I don’t like to go to training and be expected to get to know a huge bunch of people I don’t know (I’m sort of a introvert masking as an extrovert cause obviously I’m blogging and IG)!

This is part of a DBT certification that I’m doing with some of my co workers. (So the whole time I’m here I have to stay silent!) (Also no shopping, so we’ll see how everything goes!)

It’s All About That Plaid (And NYFW)

Hey friends!

Happy Thursday and almost Friday! (am I getting ahead of myself??) You guys know I love me a weekend (I won’t have a weekend this week cause I have a work training but that is another post full of my thoughts LOL)

You all know I’m a stalker of all things fashion and that includes NYFW (New York Fashion Week). It’s such a cool time to see what new trends are out there and what I have in my closet that is similar. I think that is a fun adventure!

I follow WhoWhatWear on IG and during Fashion Week, one of their editors (?) Kat Collins was all dressed up and going to some event. I thought her look darling and l looked up the pants she wore and they are from Shopbop for $750…yes $750 dollars for a pair of pants….Whoa, that’s like a house payment! Sheesh, I aint got that kind of money for a pair of pants and if I did, should I pay that much for a pair of pants??

So anyway, I thought, well I can copy her look (sort of) without spending that much and make it lots of fun right??

I first started with a pair of leggings I purchased in January from Rue21 on clearance for I think $10 (honestly that’s more my speed), and I tried to figure out what kind of top to pair with it…her sweater has some fun details although just gray. I eventually discovered an old LulaRoe shirt in a gray/white print that I thought looked amazing with these pants (had some personality) except structure of the shirt is LulaRoe; it’s kind of baggy and ties in the front. I needed my shirt to be more fitted and shorter. So I got out my 36 year old sewing machine at 7:45 am to try some alterations by 8:30am… (you can already see my problem)

I took in both sides of the shirt and attempted to hem it, although my machine keeps clogging up and knotting underneath, possibly some mechanical malfunction because I re threaded it several times, got a new needle, etc but no go. Needless to say, I still went to work because I AM NOT A QUITTER! LOL

So I paired my $10 leggings with an old Lularoe shirt, some bejeweled velvet mules from Target and my black circle bag. Oh I also wore my wayyyy tassel red earrings along with bold eye makeup and bold red lips! I do not do things half way!

I’m attaching pictures of the original outfit and then mine. Hopefully you can see ways to incorporate runway trends at home (by the way, I’m still looking for a bedazzled black drawstring purse just to up my game) Happy weekend friends!
