Brutal Deliverance

Hey friends!

All this week I’ve been in a work paid training to assist my clients in moving beyond their trauma. The intervention is DBT PE-Dialectical Behavior Therapy- Prolonged Exposure.

The last two days we discussed (8:30-430) rationale for treatment, statistics showing drastic improvement or elimination of PTSD symptoms and structure of the intervention.

Today and tomorrow we watched videos of actual sessions (signed release of clients in video to use for training-no names) to help us understand how to administer the treatment.

One thing about watching the videos of sessions is that we as participants are privy to the terrible trauma a few people have experienced to be able to help many people move out of the terrible trap that is PTSD. I am happy to do this to help others; interestingly enough while understanding information yesterday, I realized -holy shit- I have trauma I haven’t taken care of. It would be good if I did this intervention/therapy myself and can also share with my clients the benefit of this work.

I got a referral from my boss to see someone trained in this PE and hopefully I can begin soon.

Yesterday after sharing my thoughts with my husband I slept well. I have some relief already I think.

I’ll share more of my journey as time goes on in the hopes that others can find peace as I do.

Wardrobing Shorts!

Hello friends and happy Sunday!

I’ve been having some fun with shorts. I touched on it in a previous post but I’m seeing something different with this one.

I’ve wore a few different outfits combining shorts with what are essentially cardigans (although each are somewhat different).

I have a pair of distressed jean shorts that I’ve combined two different ways (and will continue to experiment)

1. I wore my shorts with a purple/tan/turquoise top covered with a tan cardigan and sandals.

2. I wore my shorts with a white Tee and a plaid/tweed structured jacket, white sandals and a blue snakeskin bag.

3. I wore my white jean shorts with my white tee again and a brightly colored kimono along with white sandals and my black circle bag.

I’ve discovered it is fun and different to combine my shorts (typically a summer or casual item) with jackets or cardigans to create something unique and fun! If I could give some advice, it would be to throw away “rules” of fashion or the way you’ve always done things and have a little fun! I’m going to keep seeing what else I can get away with- by wearing shorts. Who knows right??!

Way to go Friday!

Hello friends and happy Friday!

Speaking of Friday; what do you usually think of on Friday? Happiness, chillax, casual, TGIF, weekend, days off, partay?

These are all things I think but today started off different. I needed new tires on my race machine (haha maxima) so I went to Big-O early for tires and alignment.

The bad news: ma’am the front struts are leaking pretty bad and will need to be replaced (he also said something about the back- but I blocked that information). I inquired how much that would be- admitting struts are expensive. He said – well they CAN be expensive-puleese I know they’re $$$ and I know it takes more time. I had a baby meltdown- tiny really- I just said-well I need to get to work I can’t sit here that long.

Ma’am we have a “loaner” car you can take ?? Really you do? Well now I’m fine other than $$$.

The “loaner” car ends up being something I think competed in a demolition derby. One of the doors doesn’t have a inside cover , the car is about 4 inches from the ground and is barely running. LOL makes me appreciate my race machine for sure.

Then after I arrived at work, hubs tells me his battery and alternator stopped working, he dropped car off at shop, took Uber to work and it’s another $$$.

Another $2000 later I’m thinking, “Friday! How could you be like that”?! (This is Monday kind of stuff, wth) 😂

Happy weekend friends!

Zara Clearance Love

Hey friends!

I was going to say happy weekend but today is Sunday and it’s almost over 😕 the weekends go by so quickly don’t you think??

Anyway I wanted to share excitement from Thursday! While waiting for a co worker to finish up (I waited to visit her new home!) I wandered to Fashion Place Mall- exchanged my top at Nordstrom, browsed through H&M, and then wandered through Zara. To my surprise I discovered a wonderful orange striped (gathered or rouched) dress that has some gold threads in it too! The rouching is on one side of the dress which makes one appear very curvy when wearing. It was only $12!! What a deal! And I tried it on and fit!

I also found a sweet clutch type bag with a shoulder strap – only this girl (bag) is leather looking snake print with some turquoise shades! It’s amazing looking, hard to describe! That clutch is $29 but marked down quite a bit (since snakeprint is so hot right now I couldn’t resist the fun)!

I got up to the checkout and the girl said how gorgeous the dress and bag are together and asked where I’m going “out”- as in somewhere elegant. Haha I said I don’t really go “out” but might wear to work or church 😂 she looked at me kinda odd but whatever right!!?

So my friends, next time you need a deal- visit the Zara clearance section and you won’t be disappointed!

Wish List

Hey friends!

How are you all on this fine Wednesday? I hope everyone is well and happy 🙂

I thought I would share a little bit of my fun trip to Wyoming last weekend! I left on Thursday and returned Sunday.

Thursday I had some fun in the thriving metropolis of Thayne Wyoming (actually it’s a small town) but my aunt runs a food truck by a local motel (owned by a family member) and we sat and ate the best burgers ever, followed by fun conversation with my parents and aunt and uncle.

The next day I drove up to Afton (about 20 minutes away) to visit with my grandfather (who this year will be 97)! and my two aunts were also there visiting for the Lincoln County Fair! Later that afternoon we visited the fair and watched the Swift Idol (sort of like American Idol but small scale) of local voices under a big tent. That was enjoyable although hot hot hot 🙂 Afterwards enjoyed a rodeo! Yee haw!

Then Saturday my mother and I drove up to Jackson Hole (yes the same-just about 40 minutes from where I grew up) and puttered around town-we ate lunch at Wort Bar and Motel- saw a famous person (actually two older gentlemen approached our table with a pick up line-that was funny). We stopped at a regular store-TJMaxx where I found a gorgeous embroidered maxi dress by Free People which is to die for! Smoking deal too!

Then we visited some less than affordable shops around downtown Jackson Hole LOL. I tried on a gorgeous cowboy hat with jewels around the brim, it was so pretty but $400….yes that’s how much it was dang it. Hubby said I could buy it if we sold both our cars! LOL!

We drove back home later and attended another rodeo…I can’t believe I’ve seen three rodeo’s this summer! How much more fun is that?? It’s been a great summer ya’ll.

I’m sharing the pictures of the dress and a cute video of the super expensive hat I DID NOT PURCHASE LOL! I was explaining the hat to a co worker and she asked “Did you seriously buy the hat?? You are all about deals”! And I realized, she is right! I don’t like to spend loads of money, I like to get deals on stuff. That was a good reminder to be an affordable shopper.

The Therapist Who Lived

Hello friends!

It’s been a few days since I blogged; I was out of town kicking up my heels away from work! Yay!

Yesterday back at work but had a nasty run in with a mean lady (not a client)!

She appeared at our facility in Salt Lake and I decided to make the effort to repair our relationship; after our last phone call I told her I would not communicate with her by phone ANYMORE-only by email.

So when she showed up I thought I would be a bigger person and speak with her (mistake).

She is argumentative, insulting, disrespectful and super high anxiety/energy so I felt like I couldn’t breathe and wasn’t safe.

At one point I stood up- 👠 and all of a sudden realized-I’m a foot and a half taller with about 75 pounds on you- I could kick your trash little vicious chihuahua-

I felt so much safer after that; plus she tried that crap with my boss too and he told me to keep my contact with her on an email basis. SCORE!
