Stretch First

Hey friends!

I have another birthday this week and it’s a good reminder not to do stupid things!

My co worker (probably 15 years younger than I and parent to a young girl on cheer squad) on Friday said “I’ll give you $50 to do this”… and she straightened out her leg and propped it on top of the front desk in our office entryway (counter is shoulder height).

Of course I can’t resist a dare and did so with my left leg, while she is saying “you have to straighten your knees”! Then I tried it with my right leg (seriously what was I thinking??)

I got a huge cramp in my right thigh that immediately made my nonsense stop but since then have been having terrible pain in my hip (maybe my hamstring?)

I couldn’t sleep most of the night and am thinking how silly I was to take a dare! (I did do it though-she owes me $50)! At least I could have stretched first!!

The Changing of the πŸ‘

Hello friends!

I’m sorry I’ve been MIA this week. I’ve had a big week of family visiting from hubs daughter to my family reunion so it’s been busy!

Today I finally gave up and threw away a pair of shoes! Nooooooo

Yes it really happened! I purchased these sandals a couple years ago and they just look ratty now but I hate to get rid of shoes! I’ve worn them a couple times and look down and they have rips on the sole and buckle is coming undone. It’s time.

Every year or so I must get rid of a pair of black sandals or black boots. These are the items I wear most and hence I wear them out. So here is a posting to share my grief (πŸ˜‚) and Joy with my new shoes!

I got these slides on clearance at Target for $12 and the studded sandals at Forever21 for $20. Really let’s be honest, I’m not suffering LOL!

Happy weekend friends!

Real Talk about Hair Loss

Hello friends!

I thought today would be somewhat different. I want to share my experience with hair loss.

In 2012 I was diagnosed with Hashimotos disease and my thyroid surgically removed. Back in 2004 I was diagnosed with hypothyroid and I think things went downhill (health wise) after that, although the last couple of years have not been bad. I’ve struggled with low energy, low motivation, anxiety, depression, muscle aches, weight gain, digestion problems, menstrual problems, mood swings, hair loss, hair thinning, skin problems, insomnia, irritability….yada yada…seems like the list goes on and on…(oh and forgetfulness or brain fog).

In 2016 I started seeing a naturepath and eating gluten free. I also discovered being soy free has benefits; along with taking natural supplements and hormones. Early 2018 my hair started falling out and I reduced my thyroid medication a tad along with adding Zinc and Iron to my supplemental regime (along with special shampoo, which BTW DOES NOT WORK). For a few months my hair stopped falling out and I felt encouraged.

A few weeks ago, my hair began falling out again and who knows what the problem is this time. I don’t think I can go lower on my thyroid medication and it might be something nutritional IDK! Anyway I sort of felt like shaving my head, really it would be less stressful to worry about my hair falling out. I think it would be easier to wear a wig and just whip that thing on every morning. It sure would take the complication out of getting ready every day….:)

I told one of my cute IG friends about my ideas and she just happens to sell Halo Couture. It’s an easy apply hair extensions products. Human hair is woven into a type of hat thing that lays right above your neck with a invisible wire going over the top of your head. It really is amazing.

She just happened to have some at her house so I popped over and tried on two items: an 18″ Halo and a topper (fits on top of my head to create the look of fullness), both in dark brown. I was feeling a need to change, had been contemplating shaving my head and getting a wig but buying these two options would allow me to continue keeping my hair whatever happens and the two pieces together make my hair look very full! After I tried them on, I was hooked and my worry assuaged. (I was also super sick of curling my hair every day, cause my own hair is very fine and thin; doesn’t keep a curl and would not match my previous Halo if I didn’t curl it). These two new Halo’s are straight. Win for me, win for my hair! For right now I’m not shaving my head, I just got hair four inches longer than before!

So if anyone out there is struggling with thinning hair or hair loss due to aging or disease or hormones, please don’t be discouraged. There is a lot you can do these days to address or hide hair loss and it doesn’t have to devastate your life. I know the last few weeks I’ve been kind of freaking out cause I thought my hair loss was changing for the better. Realizing it’s not and that my disease will go back and forth between healing and attack (autoimmune disease) can be discouraging and feel hopeless.

Please if you have any questions for me, let me know. Don’t be overwhelmed by it all.

Prairie Chic

Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday!

I hope you’re all well and enjoying the wonderful weather in JULY (or should I say the HEAT) in July? Seriously it was 100 yesterday and I don’t want to leave my house once I get home, it really zaps my energy, I don’t know what to do πŸ˜‰

Anywho…..

I thought to share the fun dress I got on ZARA website, it was a smoking deal ($25 and apparently now $15) and something a little bit different which I love! This is a maxi dress with floral embroidery (cross stitch) in a beautiful plaid pattern and red/black/lite blue colors! I liked it on the website but fell in love in person! It also has a type of embroidery on it that looks like smocking and the neckline ties with these tassels that’s just darling (don’t hold back from this one, it’s to die for!)

My friend at work called it my “Prairie Chic” dress and I really agree and love! I paired it with an equally new but cheap straw bag-Asos (disguised as a close relative of a lunch basket-seriously how cute can we get?) and I wore my tan sandals and gold tassel earrings.Β  The front is somewhat low at the ties so I wore a workout tank in baby blue to keep me from hanging out for all to see. I think it’s so fun!

I’m really building up the dress section of my wardrobe which is fun because I do so love wearing fun dresses and when they are inexpensive, I really feel like I’m killing it in life!

Wrap Wonder!

Hello friends!

How are you all doing?? I hope you are well and thanks for reading or following my blog! This has sure been a fun road!

Today I wanted to share my newfound yellow dress! I’ve been on the hunt a couple months for a yellow dress- I’ve found several but style/size/length somehow hasn’t worked. It’s been a (buy the dress- I’ve bought two at Target)-then next day return for reasons listed above. (For some reason I really don’t like trying on items in the dressing room of a store-that annoys me) so I’m constantly or often returning ill fitting items that look good on a hanger. πŸ˜‚

So late (9pm for me 🀣) I checked out some emails arriving earlier in the day and discovered one from someone I follow: Rach Parcell who launched her own clothing line. Amazingly enough I discovered a yellow gingham wrap dress that was in my budget (her every day line-less expensive) and yellow, along with wrap style (flatters my figure) and ruffles! Checks all the boxes right ??

I have to admit I ordered it that night and was excited when I got it two days later! It’s seriously a darling dress and I paired it with some pearl earrings, pearl necklace for church (no necklace for work) and my new white wedges from Amazon Prime Wardrobe! (I’ve wore the dress twice since I got it- and I think when the season cools I could wear it with my jean jacket and my blue cowboy boots and be super cute!)

I added a link to the dress and wedges so you can buy if you’ve been searching like me!

The shoe is Rockport Briah Perf Sling -when I try to add link it goes directly to my Amazon account- weird huh?!

To Lunch?

Hello friends!

Today has been odd- I don’t know- weird really.

To start with I couldn’t find a slip to go with my new wrap dress (apparently no one wears slips anymore!) seriously I can’t just flash my underwear if the wind blows, so my morning was less smooth than I like.

Then LUNCH: I made fish tacos last night and took leftovers for lunch BUT neglected to bring the tortillas (I know it’s the slip incident that threw me off!) so there I was at work with taco-coleslaw mix and fish- I started eating a fork full of fish and coleslaw as if it were salad and eventually felt a little 🀒 (it’s not as tasty as it sounds!) so I stopped.

Then I got home from work and (do I have to create a meal again??) seriously by Thursday my desire to cook has hit a wall and digging my dishes out of my lunchbox made me 🀒 again (thank goodness hubs dumped out my dishes- I couldn’t have done it without hurling)!

So I sat down with plump red grapes and plain yogurt for dinner and my tummy feels better.

Recommendation: Don’t eat fish and coleslaw by themselves. Learn from me friends!

You’re welcome πŸ˜‰

Follow up to Prime Wardrobe (review)

Hello friends! Happy Hump Day!

I thought I would follow up with a review of what I got from Prime Wardrobe (Amazon). It’s a new service with Amazon Prime that a person can pick up to 8 items in fashion (shoes, clothes, jewelry, bags, etc) in a certain section of Amazon, have them shipped for free to your home, try on the items, and decide what you love while shipping back for free what you do not like and not paying for the items you don’t want.

I tried it a few days ago. I ordered two pairs of sandals, (one white one pink), a Betsy Johnson bag, and a pair of Betsy Johnson earrings. My package was delivered Monday and I had fun opening up all the “gifts”! I love getting packages in the mail, it’s a thing.

So the shoes are amazing! I wore the pink sandals (Franco Sarto Wedge Sandal)yesterday. It’s a little bit of a wedge but not really high and the pink material feels like leather and is a hot pink. I love them and will probably find many things to match them πŸ™‚

The white sandals (Rockport Women’s Briah-picture below with fresh toenails πŸ˜‚) are also a wedge but strap behind my ankle and the white material is perforated so it looks like polka dots! I’ve been trying to find a white wedge but unsuccessful until this pair. They’re super comfy too and I’m wearing them today.

The Betsy Johnson bag is so cute, although a little spendy $100 and the (inside room) is about the size of a small protein bar so I couldn’t justify keeping it. It is darling though and a fish, so how cute!

The Betsy Johnson earrings are super cute, although different than what I expected and I returned these also.

The return is simple; the package comes with a self addressed stamped (UPC coded) sticker and the box has an adhesive strip. I just put my unwanted items in the box, sealed it with the strip, and stuck the addressed sticker on the box over my address sticker. I then dropped the box off at UPS and it is now on it’s way back to AMAZON. Easy peasy!

I hope you try Prime Wardrobe, it was fun and I like my shoes (I don’t get any reimbursement for this BTW, paid with my own dough). I just like to shop. πŸ™‚
