How was your Memorial Day weekend?? I hope you had a wonderful time!
I had a good day on Saturday and Sunday, even Monday was technically good but unexpected.
Saturday hubs and I went zip lining down Provo Canyon which was an amazing experience. We went with Provo Canyon adventures and went on five zip lines (did the first one twice) just to get the hang of things. It was a beautiful day and we had great time. I tried to spin a couple of times and almost ended up coming into one platform backwards which kind of freaked me out, but it all ended well. Afterwards we drove into Heber City and dined at Granny’s Drive In which was soooo good. I might have been really hungry but it was very good LOL!
Sunday was kind of laid back; we went to church and then some of our children came to visit. We then took a trip to the cemetery to visit the grave of my youngest son, he would be 20 in October of this year. It was a somber visit but we talked about him and how old he would be and how my daughter probably wouldn’t be as spoiled because she wouldn’t have been the youngest. It was nice despite the situation.
Then yesterday started out wonderful; I woke early and got ready for a morning bike ride. I rode down Provo River Trail to the lake and around the trail on the east side of the lake. I then decided to ride up to the University Parkway underpass because last year it was closed due to the road construction and I wanted to see if it had been completed. Amazing, it is completed and if I wanted, I could go farther but I already had gone about five miles so I turned around and headed home. On the way I crossed a wood bridge with a sharp 90 degree turn off the bridge with a fence on one side and a drop off to the river on the other. A young woman and her son were at the turn (stopped) with his little bike/training wheels; I didn’t want to run them over and almost stopped, but they completely blocked the trail and I fell off the edge, flipped over my bike and fell down into the weeds and rocks. It really hurt, no lie- my right knee is scraped pretty bad, I pulled the hamstring in my left leg and I managed to smash my face into my handle bars. It was no fun and I had to ride my bike all the way back home with my hurt knees (waaaaaa) I spent most of the day icing my knee although I’m still sore today and a little annoyed that some people on the trail do not know the rules of the “road” so to speak.
Later in the day all the (adult) children came over and we had a BBQ which made the rest of my day fun! I sure love spending time with all the kids and grandkids!
Ups and downs for the holiday weekend but I think this is life and normal. Usually the positive outweighs the negative in my experience.
Thanks for reading friends and enjoy your four day work week!
Here we are at the tipping edge of a three day weekend! Yay! I hope everyone has some fun plans?
To start my weekend out, I went to the movie theatre at 830 am this morning and picked up tickets to “Solo” through MoviePass. Great start to my holiday! But I digress…
I wanted to share how a couple of my outfits lately have reminded me of Girl Scout Cookies- specifically Samoa’s and Thin Mints 😂
I love mint jeans and got these cute distressed ones from OldNavy with a coupon for $20 and I like to wear them with anything!
One day I paired them with my leopard Calvin Klein blouse from Macys and the outfit reminded me of a GS Samoa cookie! (With my circle bag 💼 looking like a cookie too!)
Then yesterday I wore my mint jeans with my gingham blouse from Express and felt it looked like a Thin Mint cookie!
(I can relate anything to chocolate, friends!)
Thanks for reading and happy Memorial Day Weekend!
I was so excited this morning!
I wanted to wear my yellow blouse, actually it’s more gold. Yellow is such a trendy and fun color lately; it’s a color you can combine with almost anything but I wanted a new combination! (That’s so unlike me right??)
But it’s unreasonable to always have a new outfit! It’s more fun to be creative and create something new out of clothes I already have.
I’ve also seen (online and in magazines) many outfits combining pajama pants in every day outfits! Who would think?? Trust me, it’s cute though.
I realized I had a pair of striped pants (I bought a couple years ago in South Carolina-at Tommy Bahama) and my daughter always told me they looked like pajama pants! Haha!
So I combined my Tommy Bahama pants and my yellow JCPenney blouse along with tan sandals from Old Navy-Score! I have a new outfit and appears to be pajama pants!
Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think or if you want to try it out yourself!
I’m feeling kind of tired and discouraged today, I know that’s not fun to hear about but it’s real life (I get tired (worn down) of speaking about trauma and death all the time) so I came home to watch Downton Abbey on Amazon. I know it’s not new on TV but it’s still fun to watch and I’m so enamored of this era and all the fun clothing. I should have made it a priority to watch the Royal Wedding a couple days ago (It was so early in the morning!) but I love that kind of thing…fairy tales and all! Downton is cheering me up! I just love Aunt Violet (Maggie Smith); she is so funny and talented! There’s also a rumor going around about a Downton Abbey movie sometime! Wouldn’t that be wonderful??
A couple months ago I accidentally bought (at Ulta) the longest lashes I have ever seen. I thought there was no way I would ever wear them. (There was a special going on- buy one get one 50% off so I thought I got two of the same size as one was behind the other on the hook).
Today after spending hours-seriously hours doing my second unpaid job as a landscaper (really it’s my own yard LOL) I realized I needed to feel elegant after digging in the dirt all day.
So I wore the LONG lashes. Yes I felt elegant. And it’s only a Saturday that I’m spending my time now getting groceries. But what does it matter? I have long lashes and red lipstick- I can do what I want LOL! Happy Saturday friends!
Happy Friday! Isn’t Friday the most wonderful day?? It’s sort of like Christmas Eve, the day before the best day of the week leading to my favorite days of the week. Friday is usually always a good day 🙂
I had an eyebrow emergency yesterday. I grabbed my eyebrow pencil, Anastasia Brow Whiz and tried to roll up the pencil, but nothing happened and I realized it was empty! NOOOOOOOO…..hence my emergency. There was a little nub that I managed to outline my brows but it was not the same LOL
So after work yesterday I quickly walked to Ulta (from parking lot/car) and found my favorite eye brow pencil.
I’ve learned that my eyebrows are not exactly alike and that’s ok. Someone once told me, “eyebrows are sisters, not twins” and I love remembering that. I’m adding pictures today of before I do my eyebrows, after I do my eyebrows, and then with my hair and lips done. I’ve noticed my right eyebrow has more of an arch and my left eyebrow is more straight, no matter what I do to try and make them the same, they want to do their own thing. I’m exercising acceptance with my eyebrows LOL!
When younger, my eyebrows were thicker and I also did not have rosacea so I didn’t wear heavy foundation (most times I did not wear foundation at all). Now my eyebrows are a little thinner due to age or thyroid disease, I am not sure; so I pencil more in and it seems to also match my dyed hair. I dye my hair (I have a lot of gray) and right now I like my hair this color; I also like the red streaks, it’s fun. Maybe when I’m older, I will let it go gray, I’m not sure yet. I’ve also tried lighter foundations because my skin tone is originally fair, but rosacea has made my face and neck so red that the lighter tones on my face look odd against my dark (red) neck. So I wear a darker foundation (Estee Lauder Double Wear) and pencil in my brows so everything kind of matches.
I hope this helps anyone else who suffers from rosacea or age related eye brow thinning.
Thanks for reading Friends and Happy Friday!
Hello Friends!! This deserves it’s own post right?? I’m super excited to have each of you as followers on my blogging journey and thankful you take the time to read.
I think blogging might be a little like life in some ways. It takes time to accomplish big goals, like graduating college or getting your dream job. I’ve been blogging less than a year but as I try to think up at least three entries a week, I am challenged and sometimes inspired. Hopefully more times inspired LOL! I really wanted to make this work for me and be a sort of outlet (self care in some ways) for my thoughts about aging, fashion, work, women, fashion (again) and life in general.
I’m super excited to hit this milestone, although will continue to blog my way to a different age and different challenges! Thanks for reading friends!
