Oh my goodness my favorite day of the work week, Friday is upon us! I never really understood how much joy can be packed into one day (until it arrives and I’m almost giddy!) Happy end of the week, beginning of the weekend! Boom!
Another thing I realized made me happy is color. I don’t know if that sounds strange? Today I wore this vibrant red/blue/black patterned skirt from (H&M) and an (older) pink tee (Express)-paired with blue sandals (Nordstrom Rack), red bag (JCPenney) and bauble bright blue earrings (Sugarfix-Target-the bomb). I also had a red moto jacket this morning cause it was a wee bit chilly but not now. I realized that the shade of red in my bag and skirt has undertones of blue (that’s really what makes the blue work) and as I was sitting in the car, trapped on the freeway, I was mesmerized the beautiful colors. It’s almost as if I’m viewing beautiful spring flowers, that’s the only way I can describe it. Of course the sun is shining too and I singing at the top of my lungs to “Greatest Showman” soundtrack, so I’m pretty much nestling in the clouds with joy even though I’m trapped on the freeway going 10mph…so ironic right?? (This was my thought process-does this color make me happy?? I think so)
Those of you that wonder about my choice of music, YES I ATTENDED ANOTHER MOVIE LAST NIGHT…this is the third movie since last Saturday, and I feel like my MoviePass purchase was a good decision LOL!
Hello Friends and happy Wednesday!
It seems as if Wednesday came really quickly to me, what happened? Well I attended a neighborhood gathering on Monday, last night went to the movies and all of a sudden it’s Wednesday! Yay! Maybe I should have plans every night for some type of fun? It seems to lower my stress with work right?
I thought I would share a fun look inspired by my recent copy of In Style magazine (Demi Lovato on the cover).
I love to get inspiration by magazines and I saw in one page spread several pictures of light pink and yellow or gold together. I thought I would copy that look with my baby pink sweat pants (JCPenney) and my yellow “anchor” sweatshirt (OldNavy). It’s a fun combination, although a little casual for work, so I added my pink (Coach) sandas (I got them last year for my daughter’s wedding) and a fun (Betsy Johnson) bag I got not too long ago at TJMaxx with glittery rose gold earrings. I think the accessories raised my look to more dressy for work.
When I got home I switched into my pink sneakers for a fun movie night, we saw “I Could Only Imagine” and seriously it was amazing. Go and see if you have a chance, great movie! Hope you like my pink and yellow look and….happy Wednesday!
How is everyone doing on this fine (snowy) Monday?? I say this a lot, but it seems to snow on Monday at 8am, when I’m commuting to work. What’s up with that? Can’t it snow at 11am? Can we have scheduled snow storms?? LOL (I’m sure that would work, no one agrees about politics, I’m sure we’ll all be able to vote on the perfect day/time for snow! LOL
I thought today would be a different type of post, just my thoughts about being a mother to men/boys compared to girls/women. I have three boys and two girls… the order goes boy, girl, boy, girl, boy…interesting the way they came out 🙂
My oldest son will be 33 this year and my middle son just turned 28 (my youngest son was still born), oldest daughter will be 31 and youngest daughter turns 23 tomorrow. I have always enjoyed being a mother. This stage of my life, where my children are grown and on their own, seems to be the most difficult stage of motherhood (in my present experience, probably will change again I’m sure).
My daughters seem to be connected to me in a different way than my sons; I’m not sure it’s bad it’s just new for me. Who else notices change in your relationships with your grown children and what have you done to keep connecting in your relationship? I think this is a normal stage of life, I’m just trying to figure out how I fit in.
Here are pictures of me with my children:) Have a great Monday.
Happy Weekend! What’s everyone doing??
I did something interesting this morning.
It all started about a week ago. I’m a huge movie buff (I think you can already tell, sometimes I dress to match my movies LOL) I had heard my co worker’s friends had a movie app with unlimited movies, I thought that might be my THING. So I cruised through the app store on my iPhone and tada! Up popped MoviePass…I signed up to pay $9.95 a month in exchange for free pass to a movie a day. Sounds about my speed right??
It took about a week to get our MoviePass card (you download the app and then MoviePass sends you a card, like a credit card-with my name and a number) you register your card on your app, then head to a theatre. There are many in my area affiliated with MoviePass. Outside the theatre, I check in (on my app) for the movie and time I want to see, then head inside to pay at the kiosk for my seat.
We saw the new Tomb Raider movie with Alicia Vikander at 10:30am (I know I vowed to lay in my bed til lunchtime but I was excited to use my MoviePass-haha). It was a fun movie (lots of action and twists in the plot) except I kept comparing it to Lara Croft: Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie. I just think Angelina Jolie is a badA compared to Alicia Vikander. Jolie has this attitude and she’s sort of like a superhero-I mean she is behind sled dogs racing a crumbling structure without a sled?? Nobody else knows how to figure out the riddles except her (well Alicia does that too, that’s true)-but I can’t give things away for those of you who haven’t seen it. It’s fun and worth seeing. I’ve included a pic of me and hubs as we left the theatre 🙂
I sit and wonder how can Angelina or Alicia kick butt like they do in movies and be so freakin tiny? I think that is one thing that contributes to women/girls perception that thinness is more important than everything else. Wonder Woman is pretty thin too, have you seen Gal Gadot? Regular women do not look like that; I think Hollywood does women a disservice. I have a friend that does crossfit and really I think she could be Tomb Raider. She has muscles, like real muscles. I think if Hollywood wants to show me a crimefighting, world saving, smart woman; please oh please let her be real. I know lots of real women that save the world and are smart and fight crime. Let’s have a real woman as a role model OK?
How is everyone doing today? I hope you are all well and making your way through the week as best you can 🙂
I thought I would share history of one of my favorite buildings in Provo Utah. I took some pictures there this morning to highlight my outfit (even though it’s super cold again LOL)
The building, Provo Tabernacle, was built between 1883-1898 by pioneers that settled the Provo area. It was used in recent years (while raising my children-1991-2010, I moved back to Provo in 1991) for church meetings (owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) and cultural activities. I met in the building many, many times for local meetings and also choir and orchestra concerts involving my children. It was a beautiful building, and I loved the stained glass windows on the outside (that was one of my favorite parts). The acoustics in the building were amazing and highlighted performances of many varieties.
On December 17, 2010 a fire broke out during the night (it was unnoticed for a couple hours people guess, due to the time of night and location of fire) and by the time firefighters knew about it, the fire was too intense to go inside. Almost the whole building was destroyed and my community was heart broken (I was heart broken) to see the building smoking and only the outside brick walls left. The community and anyone I talked to, were unsure if the building would be able to be saved or have to be torn down. It was so tragic.
Then on October 11, 2011, President Thomas S Monson (President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which I belong) announced a plan to completely restore the building to be used as a temple for members in the Provo area. I remember hearing that announcement (my family and I were listening on TV, and we paused the broadcast, and yelled and jumped up and down) to know that our beloved building would be restored. It was such a happy moment.
It was amazing watching the building being restored. One time my daughter and I were close by (at the local post office) and could see the outside original brick walls stabilized and we could see the building looked as if it was in the air, because construction crews were digging down for basement space and foundations (40 feet below original floor of building-it was seriously a engineering miracle). So cool! Eventually the temple was completed and dedicated in 2016- I attended three tours myself, I was so excited.
I’m happy to share with you some public photos of the events and pictures I’ve taken. It’s one of my favorite buildings (many happy memories too) here in Provo.
How is everyone doing this week? I have to say I’m enjoying the (sometimes) sunshine I get every once in a while! It’s better than nothing right? I liked it so much I drove through a car wash and when I got home, I rubbed down the inside of my car with armor all (sp?) and leather cleaning wipes! (Now my butt slips when I get in, but my life isn’t in too much danger right??) Sometimes, well just a couple times, I have got in my car and accidentally mashed my knee against the steering column!! Seriously painful and (I had a black and blue bump on my leg) when my husband asked, I really don’t have any idea how that happens. I’ve done it a few times to be honest, I’m pretty sure the column stays put. Anyway….my car is clean 🙂 yay! I don’t like driving a dirty car, I might have some OCD tendencies….LOL
I frequently have the desire to change up my outfit game! I don’t like wearing the same thing over again, but it’s not reasonable to NEVER wear the same clothes. I just don’t have the budget for that. What I do like to do is wear things differently or mash up items I haven’t before. I think that is super fun!
The last couple days I’ve done just that!
Yesterday I wanted to wear my sequin leggings (Express) again but let’s face it, it’s not December or New Years Eve…I want to keep wearing my sequined items or sparkle even when the holidays are over! I want what I want 😉
So I paired my leggings with a simple black T, my black/white patterned converse, and a terribly fun distressed jean jacket (Forever 21). I figure that the converse and distressed jacket balance out the bling of the leggings so it looks like something anyone would wear! I enclose pics of course!
Then today I just want spring to be here so bad and really wanted to wear my lilac cardigan (Target-ANewDay-spring color but with warmth for Utah’s spring weather, haha) and tried something really new for me. I paired it with my ruffled, blue (almost periwinkle) striped blouse (Target, WhoWhatWear) with my embroidered jeans (Express) and white boots. I figure that lavender/purple is made by mixing blue and red which makes sense the blue in jeans, blue in shirt, and red on flowers on jeans….interesting that all these items work so well together! Also the ruffle on the shirt sticks out of the cardigan making it attention getting (and is sort of like a flower blooming) which is fun and seems like spring!
Let me know what you think of my combinations and have a great day! I hope it’s spring where you’re at!
This is an urgent message for Obi Wan Gabbana:
I’m a member of the Obsessed Shoppers Committee on a diplomatic mission to Target! Their many brands: Who What Wear, ANewDay, Ava & Vive, Knox Rose, Mossimo, Universal Thread, Sugarfix, and Xhileration are too much for a simple impulsive woman (like me) and can be classified as an act of war 😉 LOL (I guess you could say I’ve been watching Star Wars! I even speak six shoe languages, although not Bacchi)
Every time I go to Target I find great items I would love to snag, although we all know I need to exercise SOME self control, it’s a skill right? So instead of buying everything I see, I will take some pics of my favorite pieces and tell you what I would do with them! That’s just as much fun as a diplomatic mission to Alderaan right??? (I AM NOT A COMMITTEE!) Help me Obi Wan Gabbana you’re my only hope…
NOW PRINCESS WE WILL DISCUSS THE LOCATION OF YOUR HIDDEN TARGET CARD!
Bahahahahahaha! (Cute princess below is my granddaughter a few years ago) 😘
ok I found several darling pieces at Target!
Aren’t all these the cutest?? I love the lavender mini bag! I ended up buying the (3rd) and (5th) items! The floral lace skirt was only $8 and the earrings regular price but are super cute with the skirt and I’m thinking a gray t shirt or sweater depending on weather 😊
The two floral tanks would be cute with white pants and a jean jacket or bright jacket to match the tanks.
I love both shoes! Aren’t they darling! I think the olive green sandals would go with anything and same with the slides. They’re both so fun and summery.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my Target review! Go and see if there’s something you would enjoy! Have a happy weekend!
